ஸா ப்ரஹ்மேதி ஹோவாச ப்ரஹ்மணோ வா ஏதத்விஜயே மஹீயத்வமிதி ததோ ஹைவ விதாஞ்சகார ப்ரஹ்மேதி ॥ 1॥
She replied, "It is Brahman. Indeed, it is through the victory of Brahman that you attained your glory." From that alone, he understood that it was Brahman.
தஸ்மாத்வா ஏதே தேவா அதிதராமிவாந்யாந்தேவாந்யதக்நிர்வாயுரிந்த்ரஸ்தே ஹ்யேநந்நேதிஷ்ட-ம்பஸ்பர்ஶுஸ்தே ஹ்யேநத்ப்ரதமோ விதாஞ்சகார ப்ரஹ்மேதி ॥ 2॥
Therefore, these gods—Agni, Vayu, and Indra—are, as it were, superior to the other gods, for they touched Brahman closest and they were the first to know that it was Brahman.
தஸ்மாத்வா இந்த்ரோ-ऽதிதராமிவாந்யாந்தேவாந்ஸ ஹ்யேநந்நேதிஷ்ட-ம்பஸ்பர்ஶ ஸ ஹ்யேநத்ப்ரதமோ விதாஞ்சகார ப்ரஹ்மேதி ॥ 3॥
Therefore, Indra is, as it were, superior to the other gods, for he touched Brahman closest and he was the first to know that it was Brahman.
தஸ்யைஷ ஆதேஶோ யதேதத்வித்யுதோ வ்யத்யுததா(3) இதீ-ந்ந்யமீமிஷதா(3) இத்யதிதைவதம் ॥ 4॥
Regarding this, there is this illustration: It is like the flash of lightning, or like the blinking of the eye; this refers to the divine manifestation.
அதாத்யாத்மம்-யँத்தேதத்கச்சதீவ ச மநோ-ऽநேந சைததுபஸ்மரத்யபீக்ஷ்ணம் ஸங்கல்பஃ ॥ 5॥
Regarding the individual self, it is like the mind that seems to approach Him, and by which one repeatedly remembers Him—this is the path of thought.
தத்த தத்வந-ந்நாம தத்வநமித்யுபாஸிதவ்யம் ஸ ய ஏததேவம்-வேँதாபி ஹைநக்ம் ஸர்வாணி பூதாநி ஸம்வாँஞ்சந்தி ॥ 6॥
That Brahman is known as "Tad-vana" (the object of desire). It should be meditated upon as "Tad-vana." He who knows Brahman in this way, all beings cherish him.
உபநிஷத-ம்போ ப்ரூஹீத்யுக்தா த உபநிஷத்ப்ராஹ்மீம்-வாँவ த உபநிஷதமப்ரூமேதி ॥ 7॥
"Teach me, sir, the Upanishad." "The Upanishad has been spoken to you; indeed, we have told you the Upanishad concerning Brahman."
தஸ்யை தபோ தமஃ கர்மேதி ப்ரதிஷ்டா வேதா-ஸ்ஸர்வாங்காநி ஸத்யமாயதநம் ॥ 8॥
Austerity, self-restraint, and work are its foundation; the Vedas are its limbs, and Truth is its abode.
யோ வா ஏதாமேவம்-வேँதாபஹத்ய பாப்மாநமநந்தே ஸ்வர்கே லோகே ஜ்யேயே ப்ரதிதிஷ்டதி ப்ரதிதிஷ்டதி ॥ 9॥
He who knows this Upanishad in this way, having shaken off all evil, becomes established in the infinite, highest, and blissful heavenly world. He is established.
॥ இதி கேநோபநிஷதி சதுர்தஃ கண்டஃ ॥
ௐ ஆப்யாயந்து மமாங்காநி வாக்ப்ராணஶ்சக்ஷு-ஶ்ஶ்ரோத்ரமதோ பலமிந்த்ரியாணி ச ஸர்வாணி । ஸர்வ-ம்ப்ரஹ்மௌபநிஷத-ம்மா-ऽஹ-ம்ப்ரஹ்ம நிராகுர்யா-ம்மா மா ப்ரஹ்ம நிராகரோதநிராகரணமஸ்த்வநிராகரண-ம்மே-ऽஸ்து । ததாத்மநி நிரதே ய உபநிஷத்ஸு தர்மாஸ்தே மயி ஸந்து தே மயி ஸந்து ।
ௐ ஶாந்தி॒-ஶ்ஶாந்தி॒-ஶ்ஶாந்திஃ॑ ॥
॥ இதி கேநோபநிஷத் ॥
