Shri Lakshmi Sahasranama Stotram
श्रीस्कन्दपुराणे सनत्कुमारसंहितायाम् ।
From the Sanatkumara Samhita in the Skanda Purana.
श्रीगणेशाय नमः ।
Salutations to Lord Ganesha.
हरिः ॐ ।
नाम्नां साष्टसहस्रञ्च ब्रूहि गार्ग्य महामते ।
महालक्ष्म्या महादेव्या भुक्तिमुक्त्यर्थसिद्धये ॥ १॥
Hari Om. O wise Gargya! Please tell us the one thousand and eight names of the great Goddess Mahalakshmi, which grant worldly enjoyments and liberation. (1)
गार्ग्य उवाच-
सनत्कुमारमासीनं द्वादशादित्यसन्निभम् ।
अपृच्छन्योगिनो भक्त्या योगिनामर्थसिद्धये ॥ २॥
Gargya said: The Yogis devotionally asked Sanatkumara, who was seated and shining like twelve suns, for the attainment of the goals of Yogis. (2)
सर्वलौकिककर्मभ्यो विमुक्तानां हिताय वै ।
भुक्तिमुक्तिप्रदं जप्यमनुब्रूही दयानिधे ॥ ३॥
O ocean of mercy! For the benefit of those freed from all worldly actions, please tell us the chant that grants both worldly enjoyment and liberation. (3)
सनत्कुमार भगवन्सर्वज्ञोऽसि विशेषतः ।
आस्तिक्यसिद्धये नॄणां क्षिप्रधर्मार्थसाधनम् ॥ ४॥
O Lord Sanatkumara, you are specially all-knowing. To establish faith in people, please tell us the quick means to attain Dharma (righteousness) and Artha (wealth). (4)
खिद्यन्ति मानवास्सर्वे धनाभावेन केवलम् ।
सिद्ध्यन्ति धनिनोऽन्यस्य नैव धर्मार्थकामनाः ॥ ५॥
All humans suffer solely due to the lack of wealth. The desires for Dharma and Artha are never fulfilled for anyone other than the wealthy. (5)
दारिद्र्यध्वंसिनी नाम केन विद्या प्रकीर्तिता ।
केन वा ब्रह्मविद्याऽपि केन मृत्युविनाशिनी ॥ ६॥
Which knowledge is renowned as the destroyer of poverty? Which is the knowledge of Brahman, and which is the destroyer of death? (6)
सर्वासां सारभूतैका विद्यानां केन कीर्तिता ।
प्रत्यक्षसिद्धिदा ब्रह्मन् तामाचक्ष्व दयानिधे ॥ ७॥
Which single knowledge is praised as the essence of all sciences? O Brahman, O ocean of mercy, please speak of that which grants direct accomplishments. (7)
सनत्कुमार उवाच-
साधु पृष्टं महाभागास्सर्वलोकहितैषिणः ।
महतामेष धर्मश्च नान्येषामिति मे मतिः ॥ ८॥
Sanatkumara said: O highly fortunate ones who desire the welfare of all worlds, you have asked well. This is the duty of the great ones, not of others, this is my thought. (8)
ब्रह्मविष्णुमहादेवमहेन्द्रादिमहात्मभिः ।
सम्प्रोक्तं कथयाम्यद्य लक्ष्मीनामसहस्रकम् ॥ ९॥
I shall now tell you the thousand names of Lakshmi, which have been previously spoken by great souls like Brahma, Vishnu, Mahadeva, and Mahendra. (9)
यस्योच्चारणमात्रेण दारिद्र्यान्मुच्यते नरः ।
किं पुनस्तज्जपाज्जापी सर्वेष्टार्थानवाप्नुयात् ॥ १०॥
By the mere utterance of which a person is freed from poverty; what then to speak of one who chants it regularly? The chanter will attain all desired objects. (10)
अस्य श्रीलक्ष्मीदिव्यसहस्रनामस्तोत्रमहामन्त्रस्य
आनन्दकर्दमचिक्लीतेन्दिरासुतादयो महात्मानो महर्षयः अनुष्टुप्छन्दः ।
विष्णुमाया शक्तिः महालक्ष्मीः परादेवता ।
श्रीमहालक्ष्मीप्रसादद्वारा सर्वेष्टार्थसिद्ध्यर्थे जपे विनियोगः ।
For this great mantra of the divine thousand names of Shri Lakshmi, the great sages like Ananda, Kardama, Chiklita, and the sons of Indira are the seers (Rishis). The meter is Anushtup. Vishnu's Maya is the power. Mahalakshmi is the Supreme Deity. It is chanted to attain all desired objects through the grace of Shri Mahalakshmi.
श्रीमित्यादि षडङ्गन्यासः ।
The six-fold bodily placements (Shadanga Nyasa) are performed with 'Shreem' etc.
ध्यानम्-
पद्मनाभप्रियां देवीं पद्माक्षीं पद्मवासिनीम् ।
पद्मवक्त्रां पद्महस्तां वन्दे पद्मामहर्निशम् ॥ १॥
Meditation: I bow day and night to Padma (Lakshmi), the beloved of the lotus-naveled Lord, the lotus-eyed one, who dwells in a lotus, who has a lotus-like face, and who holds lotuses in her hands. (1)
पूर्णेन्दुवदनां दिव्यरत्नाभरणभूषिताम् ।
वरदाभयहस्ताढ्यां ध्यायेच्चन्द्रसहोदरीम् ॥ २॥
One should meditate on the sister of the moon, who has a face like the full moon, who is adorned with divine jewel ornaments, and whose hands are endowed with the gestures of granting boons and fearlessness. (2)
इच्छारूपां भगवतस्सच्चिदानन्दरूपिणीम् ।
सर्वज्ञां सर्वजननीं विष्णुवक्षस्स्थलालयाम् ॥ ३॥
She who is the form of the Lord's will, whose form is truth, consciousness, and bliss, who is all-knowing, the mother of all, and whose abode is the chest of Lord Vishnu. (3)
दयालुमनिशं ध्यायेत्सुखसिद्धिस्वरूपिणीम् ।
She who is omnipresent, eternal, bringing joy and delighting the people, eternally shining, and of the nature of self-luminous light. (1)
यथोपदेशं जपित्वा, यथाक्रमं देव्यै समर्प्य,
ततश्शाम्भवीमुद्रया लक्ष्मीमनुसन्धाय, नामसहस्रं जपेत् ।
हरिः ॐ ॥
The great Lakshmi, great Kali, great virgin, Saraswati, the bestower of wealth and enjoyments, and the one who showers grace on her devotees. (2)
नित्यागतानन्तनित्या नन्दिनी जनरञ्जनी ।
नित्यप्रकाशिनी चैव स्वप्रकाशस्वरूपिणी ॥ १॥
She who is omnipresent, eternal, bringing joy and delighting the people, eternally shining, and of the nature of self-luminous light. (1)
महालक्ष्मीर्महाकाली महाकन्या सरस्वती ।
भोगवैभवसन्धात्री भक्तानुग्रहकारिणी ॥ २॥
The great Lakshmi, great Kali, great virgin, Saraswati, the bestower of wealth and enjoyments, and the one who showers grace on her devotees. (2)
ईशावास्या महामाया महादेवी महेश्वरी ।
हृल्लेखा परमा शक्तिर्मातृकाबीजरूपिणी ॥ ३॥
The one who pervades all, the great illusion, the great Goddess, the great female Lord, the letter Hrim, the supreme power, and the form of the root letters. (3)
नित्यानन्दा नित्यबोधा नादिनी जनमोदिनी ।
सत्यप्रत्ययनी चैव स्वप्रकाशात्मरूपिणी ॥ ४॥
She who is eternal bliss, eternal knowledge, the sounding one, delighting the people, the reality of truth, and whose soul is self-luminous. (4)
त्रिपुरा भैरवी विद्या हंसा वागीश्वरी शिवा ।
वाग्देवी च महारात्रिः कालरात्रिस्त्रिलोचना ॥ ५॥
Tripura, Bhairavi, Vidya, Hamsa, the Goddess of speech, Shiva, Vagdevi, the great night, the night of time, and the three-eyed one. (5)
भद्रकाली कराली च महाकाली तिलोत्तमा ।
काली करालवक्त्रान्ता कामाक्षी कामदा शुभा ॥ ६॥
Bhadrakali, Karali, Mahakali, Tilottama, Kali, the fierce-faced, Kamakshi, the granter of desires, and the auspicious one. (6)
चण्डिका चण्डरूपेशा चामुण्डा चक्रधारिणी ।
त्रैलोक्यजयिनी देवी त्रैलोक्यविजयोत्तमा ॥ ७॥
Chandika, the fierce-formed, Chamunda, the holder of the discus, the Goddess who conquers the three worlds, and the supreme victor of the three worlds. (7)
सिद्धलक्ष्मीः क्रियालक्ष्मीर्मोक्षलक्ष्मीः प्रसादिनी ।
उमा भगवती दुर्गा चान्द्री दाक्षायणी शिवा ॥ ८॥
Siddhalakshmi, Kriyalakshmi, Mokshalakshmi, the gracious one, Uma, Bhagavati, Durga, Chandri, Dakshayani, and Shiva. (8)
प्रत्यङ्गिरा धरावेला लोकमाता हरिप्रिया ।
पार्वती परमा देवी ब्रह्मविद्याप्रदायिनी ॥ ९॥
Pratyangira, Dharavela, the mother of the world, beloved of Hari, Parvati, the supreme Goddess, and the bestower of the knowledge of Brahman. (9)
अरूपा बहुरूपा च विरूपा विश्वरूपिणी ।
पञ्चभूतात्मिका वाणी पञ्चभूतात्मिका परा ॥ १०॥
The formless, the multi-formed, the diverse-formed, the form of the universe, the speech consisting of the five elements, and the supreme one of the five elements. (10)
काली मा पञ्चिका वाग्मी हविःप्रत्यधिदेवता ।
देवमाता सुरेशाना देवगर्भाऽम्बिका धृतिः ॥ ११॥
Kali, Ma, Panchika, the eloquent, the presiding deity of oblations, the mother of gods, the ruler of gods, the womb of gods, Ambika, and steadfastness. (11)
सङ्ख्या जातिः क्रियाशक्तिः प्रकृतिर्मोहिनी मही ।
यज्ञविद्या महाविद्या गुह्यविद्या विभावरी ॥ १२॥
Number, class, the power of action, nature, the enchantress, the earth, the knowledge of sacrifice, great knowledge, secret knowledge, and the night. (12)
ज्योतिष्मती महामाता सर्वमन्त्रफलप्रदा ।
दारिद्र्यध्वंसिनी देवी हृदयग्रन्थिभेदिनी ॥ १३॥
The luminous one, the great mother, the bestower of the fruits of all mantras, the Goddess who destroys poverty, and the breaker of the heart's knot. (13)
सहस्रादित्यसङ्काशा चन्द्रिका चन्द्ररूपिणी ।
गायत्री सोमसम्भूतिस्सावित्री प्रणवात्मिका ॥ १४॥
Resplendent like a thousand suns, moonlight, having the form of the moon, Gayatri, born of Soma, Savitri, and the essence of Omkara. (14)
शाङ्करी वैष्णवी ब्राह्मी सर्वदेवनमस्कृता ।
सेव्यदुर्गा कुबेराक्षी करवीरनिवासिनी ॥ १५॥
Shankari, Vaishnavi, Brahmi, bowed to by all gods, Sevya-Durga, Kuberakshi, and the dweller of Karavira (Kolhapur). (15)
जया च विजया चैव जयन्ती चाऽपराजिता ।
कुब्जिका कालिका शास्त्री वीणापुस्तकधारिणी ॥ १६॥
Jaya, Vijaya, Jayanti, Aparajita (the invincible), Kubjika, Kalika, Shastri, and the holder of the lute and book. (16)
सर्वज्ञशक्तिश्श्रीशक्तिर्ब्रह्मविष्णुशिवात्मिका ।
इडापिङ्गलिकामध्यमृणालीतन्तुरूपिणी ॥ १७॥
The power of omniscience, the power of Shri, the soul of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva, and the one whose form is the Ida, Pingala, and the central lotus stalk (Sushumna). (17)
यज्ञेशानी प्रथा दीक्षा दक्षिणा सर्वमोहिनी ।
अष्टाङ्गयोगिनी देवी निर्बीजध्यानगोचरा ॥ १८॥
The ruler of sacrifices, fame, initiation, the sacrificial fee, the enchantress of all, the eight-limbed Yogini, and the Goddess perceived through seedless meditation. (18)
सर्वतीर्थस्थिता शुद्धा सर्वपर्वतवासिनी ।
वेदशास्त्रप्रमा देवी षडङ्गादिपदक्रमा ॥ १९॥
Residing in all holy places, the pure one, dwelling on all mountains, the measure of Vedas and Shastras, and the Goddess moving in the six limbs (Vedangas). (19)
शिवा धात्री शुभानन्दा यज्ञकर्मस्वरूपिणी ।
व्रतिनी मेनका देवी ब्रह्माणी ब्रह्मचारिणी ॥ २०॥
Shiva, the sustainer, auspicious bliss, the embodiment of sacrificial action, the observer of vows, the Goddess Menaka, Brahmani, and the celibate one. (20)
एकाक्षरपरा तारा भवबन्धविनाशिनी ।
विश्वम्भरा धराधारा निराधाराऽधिकस्वरा ॥ २१॥
The supreme single-syllable (Om), Tara, the destroyer of the bonds of existence, the supporter of the universe, the earth's support, the unsupported, and the supreme vowel. (21)
राका कुहूरमावास्या पूर्णिमाऽनुमतिर्द्युतिः ।
सिनीवाली शिवाऽवश्या वैश्वदेवी पिशङ्गिला ॥ २२॥
Raka (full moon), Kuhu (new moon), Amavasya, Purnima, Anumati, brightness, Sinivali, Shiva, the untameable, Vaishvadevi, and Pishangila. (22)
पिप्पला च विशालाक्षी रक्षोघ्नी वृष्टिकारिणी ।
दुष्टविद्राविणी देवी सर्वोपद्रवनाशिनी ॥ २३॥
Pippala, the large-eyed one, the destroyer of demons, the cause of rain, the chaser of the wicked, and the destroyer of all troubles. (23)
शारदा शरसन्धाना सर्वशस्त्रस्वरूपिणी ।
युद्धमध्यस्थिता देवी सर्वभूतप्रभञ्जनी ॥ २४॥
Sharada, the aim of the arrow, the embodiment of all weapons, the Goddess standing in the middle of battle, and the destroyer of all beings. (24)
अयुद्धा युद्धरूपा च शान्ता शान्तिस्वरूपिणी ।
गङ्गा सरस्वतीवेणीयमुनानर्मदापगा ॥ २५॥
The non-combative, the form of battle, the peaceful one, the embodiment of peace, the Ganges, Saraswati, Veni, Yamuna, and Narmada rivers. (25)
समुद्रवसनावासा ब्रह्माण्डश्रोणिमेखला ।
पञ्चवक्त्रा दशभुजा शुद्धस्फटिकसन्निभा ॥ २६॥
Wearing the ocean as a garment, the universe as her hips and girdle, five-faced, ten-armed, and shining like pure crystal. (26)
रक्ता कृष्णा सिता पीता सर्ववर्णा निरीश्वरी ।
कालिका चक्रिका देवी सत्या तु वटुकास्थिता ॥ २७॥
Red, black, white, yellow, of all colors, the supreme Lord, Kalika, Chakrika, Satya, and seated as a youth (Vatuka). (27)
तरुणी वारुणी नारी ज्येष्ठादेवी सुरेश्वरी ।
विश्वम्भराधरा कर्त्री गलार्गलविभञ्जनी ॥ २८॥
The young maiden, Varuni, the woman, the elder Goddess (Jyestha), the ruler of gods, the earth, the supporter, the doer, and the breaker of obstacles. (28)
सन्ध्यारात्रिर्दिवाज्योत्स्त्ना कलाकाष्ठा निमेषिका ।
उर्वी कात्यायनी शुभ्रा संसारार्णवतारिणी ॥ २९॥
Twilight, night, daylight, moonlight, units of time (Kala, Kastha, Nimeshika), the earth, Katyayani, the radiant one, and the savior from the ocean of worldly existence. (29)
कपिला कीलिकाऽशोका मल्लिकानवमल्लिका ।
देविका नन्दिका शान्ता भञ्जिका भयभञ्जिका ॥ ३०॥
Kapila, Kilika, Ashoka, Mallika, Navamallika, Devika, Nandika, Shanta, the breaker, and the destroyer of fear. (30)
कौशिकी वैदिकी देवी सौरी रूपाधिकाऽतिभा ।
दिग्वस्त्रा नववस्त्रा च कन्यका कमलोद्भवा ॥ ३१॥
Kaushiki, Vaidiki, the Goddess, Sauri, the supremely beautiful, the exceedingly radiant, clad in space (directions), newly clothed, the virgin, and the lotus-born. (31)
श्रीस्सौम्यलक्षणाऽतीतदुर्गा सूत्रप्रबोधिका ।
श्रद्धा मेधा कृतिः प्रज्ञा धारणा कान्तिरेव च ॥ ३२॥
Shri, having auspicious marks, the transcendent Durga, the awakener of formulas, faith, intellect, action, wisdom, retention, and brilliance. (32)
श्रुतिः स्मृतिर्धृतिर्धन्या भूतिरिष्टिर्मनीषिणी ।
विरक्तिर्व्यापिनी माया सर्वमायाप्रभञ्जनी ॥ ३३॥
Hearing (Shruti), memory (Smriti), steadfastness, the fortunate one, prosperity, sacrifice, the intelligent one, detachment, the all-pervading, Maya, and the destroyer of all illusions. (33)
माहेन्द्री मन्त्रिणी सिंही चेन्द्रजालस्वरूपिणी ।
अवस्थात्रयनिर्मुक्ता गुणत्रयविवर्जिता ॥ ३४॥
Mahendri, Mantrini, Simhi, the embodiment of magic (Indrajala), free from the three states (waking, dreaming, deep sleep), and devoid of the three Gunas. (34)
ईषणात्रयनिर्मुक्ता सर्वरोगविवर्जिता ।
योगिध्यानान्तगम्या च योगध्यानपरायणा ॥ ३५॥
Free from the three desires, free from all diseases, reachable at the end of yogic meditation, and devoted to yogic meditation. (35)
त्रयीशिखा विशेषज्ञा वेदान्तज्ञानरूपिणी ।
भारती कमला भाषा पद्मा पद्मवती कृतिः ॥ ३६॥
The flame of the three Vedas, the knower of specifics, the embodiment of Vedantic knowledge, Bharati, Kamala, language, Padma, Padmavati, and creation. (36)
गौतमी गोमती गौरी ईशाना हंसवाहनी ।
नारायणी प्रभाधारा जाह्नवी शङ्करात्मजा ॥ ३७॥
Gautami, Gomati, Gauri, Ishana, riding a swan, Narayani, the stream of light, Jahnavi (Ganges), and the daughter of Shankara. (37)
चित्रघण्टा सुनन्दा श्रीर्मानवी मनुसम्भवा ।
स्तम्भिनी क्षोभिणी मारी भ्रामिणी शत्रुमारिणी ॥ ३8॥
Having a wondrous bell, Sunanda, Shri, Manavi, born of Manu, the paralyzer, the agitator, the plague, the deluder, and the killer of enemies. (38)
मोहिनी द्वेषिणी वीरा अघोरा रुद्ररूपिणी ।
रुद्रैकादशिनी पुण्या कल्याणी लाभकारिणी ॥ ३९॥
The enchantress, the hater (of demons), the brave one, Aghora, the form of Rudra, the eleven Rudras, the meritorious one, the auspicious one, and the bringer of gain. (39)
देवदुर्गा महादुर्गा स्वप्नदुर्गाऽष्टभैरवी ।
सूर्यचन्द्राग्निरूपा च ग्रहनक्षत्ररूपिणी ॥ ४०॥
Deva-Durga, Maha-Durga, Svapna-Durga, the eight Bhairavis, the form of the sun, moon, and fire, and the embodiment of planets and stars. (40)
बिन्दुनादकलातीता बिन्दुनादकलात्मिका ।
दशवायुजयाकारा कलाषोडशसंयुता ॥ ४१॥
Beyond the bindu, nada, and kala, the soul of bindu, nada, and kala, the conqueror of the ten vital airs, and endowed with the sixteen phases. (41)
काश्यपी कमलादेवी नादचक्रनिवासिनी ।
मृडाधारा स्थिरा गुह्या देविका चक्ररूपिणी ॥ ४२॥
Kashyapi, Goddess Kamala, dwelling in the sound chakra, the support of Shiva, steady, secret, Devika, and the form of the chakra. (42)
अविद्या शार्वरी भुञ्जा जम्भासुरनिबर्हिणी ।
श्रीकाया श्रीकला शुभ्रा कर्मनिर्मूलकारिणी ॥ ४३॥
Ignorance, the night, the enjoyer, the destroyer of the demon Jambha, the body of Shri, the art of Shri, the radiant one, and the uprooter of karma. (43)
आदिलक्ष्मीर्गुणाधारा पञ्चब्रह्मात्मिका परा ।
श्रुतिर्ब्रह्ममुखावासा सर्वसम्पत्तिरूपिणी ॥ ४४॥
Adi Lakshmi, the support of qualities, the supreme soul of the five Brahmas, Shruti, dwelling in the mouth of Brahma, and the embodiment of all wealth. (44)
मृतसञ्जीविनी मैत्री कामिनी कामवर्जिता ।
निर्वाणमार्गदा देवी हंसिनी काशिका क्षमा ॥ ४५॥
The reviver of the dead, friendship, the desirable one, free from desires, the Goddess who gives the path of liberation, Hamsini, Kashika, and forgiveness. (45)
सपर्या गुणिनी भिन्ना निर्गुणा खण्डिताशुभा ।
स्वामिनी वेदिनी शक्या शाम्बरी चक्रधारिणी ॥ ४६॥
Worship, the virtuous one, the divided, the attributeless, the unbroken auspiciousness, the female Lord, the knower, the capable, Shambari, and the holder of the discus. (46)
दण्डिनी मुण्डिनी व्याघ्री शिखिनी सोमसंहतिः ।
चिन्तामणिश्चिदानन्दा पञ्चबाणाग्रबोधिनी ॥ ४७॥
Dandini, Mundini, the tigress, the crested one, the assembly of Soma, Chintamani, consciousness and bliss, and the awakener of the five arrows. (47)
बाणश्रेणिस्सहस्राक्षी सहस्रभुजपादुका ।
सन्ध्यावलिस्त्रिसन्ध्याख्या ब्रह्माण्डमणिभूषणा ॥ ४८॥
The line of arrows, the thousand-eyed one, the thousand-armed, the footwear, the line of twilight, known as the three twilights, and adorned with the jewel of the universe. (48)
वासवी वारुणीसेना कुलिका मन्त्ररञ्जनी ।
जितप्राणस्वरूपा च कान्ता काम्यवरप्रदा ॥ ४९॥
Vasavi, the army of Varuna, Kulika, the delighter of mantras, the form of conquered breath, the beloved, and the granter of desired boons. (49)
मन्त्रब्राह्मणविद्यार्था नादरूपा हविष्मती ।
आथर्वणी श्रुतिशून्या कल्पनावर्जिता सती ॥ ५०॥
The meaning of Mantras, Brahman, and Vidyas, the form of sound, the bearer of oblations, Atharvani, devoid of hearing (beyond words), free from imagination, and Sati. (50)
सत्ताजातिः प्रमाऽमेयाऽप्रमितिः प्राणदा गतिः ।
अवर्णा पञ्चवर्णा च सर्वदा भुवनेश्वरी ॥ ५१॥
Existence, class, measure, the immeasurable, beyond measure, the giver of breath, the path, without color, of five colors, and always the Goddess of the universe. (51)
त्रैलोक्यमोहिनी विद्या सर्वभर्त्री क्षराऽक्षरा ।
हिरण्यवर्णा हरिणी सर्वोपद्रवनाशिनी ॥ ५२॥
The enchantress of the three worlds, knowledge, the sustainer of all, the perishable and imperishable, golden-colored, the doe, and the destroyer of all troubles. (52)
कैवल्यपदवीरेखा सूर्यमण्डलसंस्थिता ।
सोममण्डलमध्यस्था वह्निमण्डलसंस्थिता ॥ ५३॥
The line to the state of liberation, stationed in the solar orb, situated in the middle of the lunar orb, and stationed in the fire orb. (53)
वायुमण्डलमध्यस्था व्योममण्डलसंस्थिता ।
चक्रिका चक्रमध्यस्था चक्रमार्गप्रवर्तिनी ॥ ५४॥
Situated in the middle of the wind orb, stationed in the space orb, Chakrika, stationed in the center of the chakra, and moving on the path of the chakra. (54)
कोकिलाकुलचक्रेशा पक्षतिः पंक्तिपावनी ।
सर्वसिद्धान्तमार्गस्था षड्वर्णावरवर्जिता ॥ ५५॥
The ruler of the cuckoo flock chakra, the wing, the purifier of the line, situated on the path of all doctrines, and free from the best of the six colors. (55)
शररुद्रहरा हन्त्री सर्वसंहारकारिणी ।
पुरुषा पौरुषी तुष्टिस्सर्वतन्त्रप्रसूतिका ॥ ५६॥
The destroyer of the arrow and Rudra, the killer, the cause of all destruction, the masculine, the manly, satisfaction, and the mother of all Tantras. (56)
अर्धनारीश्वरी देवी सर्वविद्याप्रदायिनी ।
भार्गवी याजुषीविद्या सर्वोपनिषदास्थिता ॥ ५७॥
The half-female Lord, the Goddess, the bestower of all knowledge, Bhargavi, the knowledge of the Yajur Veda, and situated in all Upanishads. (57)
व्योमकेशाखिलप्राणा पञ्चकोशविलक्षणा ।
पञ्चकोशात्मिका प्रत्यक्पञ्चब्रह्मात्मिका शिवा ॥ ५८॥
Having space as hair, all breaths, distinguished from the five sheaths, the soul of the five sheaths, the inner self, the soul of the five Brahmas, and Shiva. (58)
जगज्जराजनित्री च पञ्चकर्मप्रसूतिका ।
वाग्देव्याभरणाकारा सर्वकाम्यस्थितस्थितिः ॥ ५९॥
The mother of the world's old age, the mother of the five actions, adorned with the Goddess of speech, and the state of all desired states. (59)
अष्टादशचतुष्षष्ठिपीठिका विद्यया युता ।
कालिकाकर्षणश्यामा यक्षिणी किन्नरेश्वरी ॥ ६०॥
Endowed with the knowledge of eighteen and sixty-four seats, Kalika, the attractor, Shyama, Yakshini, and the ruler of Kinnaras. (60)
केतकी मल्लिकाशोका वाराही धरणी ध्रुवा ।
नारसिंही महोग्रास्या भक्तानामार्तिनाशिनी ॥ ६१॥
Ketaki, Mallika, Ashoka, Varahi, the earth, the steadfast one, Narasimhi, having a very fierce mouth, and the destroyer of the distress of devotees. (61)
अन्तर्बला स्थिरा लक्ष्मीर्जरामरणनाशिनी ।
श्रीरञ्जिता महाकाया सोमसूर्याग्निलोचना ॥ ६२॥
Inner strength, the steady Lakshmi, the destroyer of old age and death, adorned with Shri, having a large body, and with eyes of moon, sun, and fire. (62)
अदितिर्देवमाता च अष्टपुत्राऽष्टयोगिनी ।
अष्टप्रकृतिरष्टाष्टविभ्राजद्विकृताकृतिः ॥ ६३॥
Aditi, the mother of gods, having eight sons, the eight Yoginis, the eight natures, and the shining, transformed form of eight by eight. (63)
दुर्भिक्षध्वंसिनी देवी सीता सत्या च रुक्मिणी ।
ख्यातिजा भार्गवी देवी देवयोनिस्तपस्विनी ॥ ६४॥
The Goddess who destroys famine, Sita, Satya, Rukmini, born of fame, Goddess Bhargavi, of divine origin, and the ascetic. (64)
शाकम्भरी महाशोणा गरुडोपरिसंस्थिता ।
सिंहगा व्याघ्रगा देवी वायुगा च महाद्रिगा ॥ ६५॥
Shakambhari, the great red one, stationed on Garuda, riding a lion, riding a tiger, moving in the wind, and moving on the great mountain. (65)
अकारादिक्षकारान्ता सर्वविद्याधिदेवता ।
मन्त्रव्याख्याननिपुणा ज्योतिश्शास्त्रैकलोचना ॥ ६६॥
Ending from A to Ksha, the presiding deity of all knowledge, expert in interpreting mantras, and having Jyotisha (astrology) as her sole eye. (66)
इडापिङ्गलिकामध्यासुषुम्ना ग्रन्थिभेदिनी ।
कालचक्राश्रयोपेता कालचक्रस्वरूपिणी ॥ ६७॥
The central Sushumna between Ida and Pingala, the breaker of knots, endowed with the refuge of the wheel of time, and the embodiment of the wheel of time. (67)
वैशारदी मतिश्श्रेष्ठा वरिष्ठा सर्वदीपिका ।
वैनायकी वरारोहा श्रोणिवेला बहिर्वलिः ॥ ६८॥
Vaisharadi, the best intellect, the most excellent, the illuminator of all, Vainayaki, the beautiful one, the waist-band, and the outer offering. (68)
जम्भिनी जृम्भिणी जृम्भकारिणी गणकारिका ।
शरणी चक्रिकाऽनन्ता सर्वव्याधिचिकित्सकी ॥ ६९॥
Jambhini, Jrumbhini, the cause of yawning, the ruler of Ganas, the refuge, Chakrika, Ananta, and the physician of all diseases. (69)
देवकी देवसङ्काशा वारिधिः करुणाकरा ।
शर्वरी सर्वसम्पन्ना सर्वपापप्रभञ्जिनी ॥ ७०॥
Devaki, resembling a god, the ocean, the mine of mercy, the night, endowed with all, and the destroyer of all sins. (70)
एकमात्रा द्विमात्रा च त्रिमात्रा च तथापरा ।
अर्धमात्रा परा सूक्ष्मा सूक्ष्मार्थाऽर्थपराऽपरा ॥ ७१॥
One mora (measure of time/sound), two moras, three moras, and the supreme beyond, half a mora, supreme, subtle, having subtle meaning, the supreme meaning, and the non-supreme. (71)
एकवीरा विशेषाख्या षष्ठीदेवी मनस्विनी ।
नैष्कर्म्या निष्कलालोका ज्ञानकर्माधिका गुणा ॥ ७२॥
The one heroine, known as special, the sixth Goddess, the intelligent one, actionless, the partless light, and having qualities greater than knowledge and action. (72)
सबन्ध्वानन्दसन्दोहा व्योमाकाराऽनिरूपिता ।
गद्यपद्यात्मिका वाणी सर्वालङ्कारसंयुता ॥ ७३॥
Endowed with bonds and multitudes of bliss, of the form of space, the undefined, speech composed of prose and poetry, and endowed with all ornaments. (73)
साधुबन्धपदन्यासा सर्वौको घटिकावलिः ।
षट्कर्मा कर्कशाकारा सर्वकर्मविवर्जिता ॥ ७४॥
Having good bonds and placement of words, the home of all, the line of hours, having six actions, fierce in form, and devoid of all actions. (74)
आदित्यवर्णा चापर्णा कामिनी वररूपिणी ।
ब्रह्माणी ब्रह्मसन्ताना वेदवागीश्वरी शिवा ॥ ७५॥
Sun-colored, Aparna, the beloved, of excellent form, Brahmani, the progeny of Brahma, the Goddess of Vedic speech, and Shiva. (75)
पुराणन्यायमीमांसाधर्मशास्त्रागमश्रुता ।
सद्योवेदवती सर्वा हंसी विद्याधिदेवता ॥ ७६॥
Heard in Puranas, Nyaya, Mimamsa, Dharmashastras, and Agamas, the eternal knower of Vedas, all, Hamsi, and the presiding deity of knowledge. (76)
विश्वेश्वरी जगद्धात्री विश्वनिर्माणकारिणी ।
वैदिकी वेदरूपा च कालिका कालरूपिणी ॥ ७७॥
The ruler of the universe, the supporter of the world, the cause of the creation of the universe, Vaidiki, the form of the Veda, Kalika, and the form of time. (77)
नारायणी महादेवी सर्वतत्त्वप्रवर्तिनी ।
हिरण्यवर्णरूपा च हिरण्यपदसम्भवा ॥ ७८॥
Narayani, the great Goddess, the initiator of all principles, having a golden form, and born of the golden state. (78)
कैवल्यपदवी पुण्या कैवल्यज्ञानलक्षिता ।
ब्रह्मसम्पत्तिरूपा च ब्रह्मसम्पत्तिकारिणी ॥ ७९॥
The state of liberation, the meritorious, characterized by the knowledge of liberation, the form of the wealth of Brahman, and the cause of the wealth of Brahman. (79)
वारुणी वारुणाराध्या सर्वकर्मप्रवर्तिनी ।
एकाक्षरपराऽऽयुक्ता सर्वदारिद्र्यभञ्जिनी ॥ ८०॥
Varuni, worshipped by Varuna, the initiator of all actions, the supreme single syllable, endowed with the unjoined, and the destroyer of all poverty. (80)
पाशांकुशान्विता दिव्या वीणाव्याख्याक्षसूत्रभृत् ।
एकमूर्तिस्त्रयीमूर्तिर्मधुकैटभभञ्जिनी ॥ ८१॥
Endowed with the noose and goad, the divine one, holding the lute, manuscript, and rosary, having one form, having three forms, and the destroyer of Madhu and Kaitabha. (81)
सांख्या सांख्यवती ज्वाला ज्वलन्ती कामरूपिणी ।
जाग्रन्ती सर्वसम्पत्तिस्सुषुप्तान्वेष्टदायिनी ॥ ८२॥
Samkhya, possessing Samkhya, the flame, the blazing one, the granter of desires, the waking one, all wealth, and the giver of the desired in deep sleep. (82)
कपालिनी महादंष्ट्रा भ्रुकुटी कुटिलानना ।
सर्वावासा सुवासा च बृहत्यष्टिश्च शक्वरी ॥ ८३॥
Wearing skulls, having great fangs, having knitted brows, having a curved face, the abode of all, having good abodes, the Brihati, Ashti, and Shakvari meters. (83)
छन्दोगणप्रतिष्ठा च कल्माषी करुणात्मिका ।
चक्षुष्मती महाघोषा खड्गचर्मधराऽशनिः ॥ ८४॥
The foundation of meters and ganas, the spotted one, the compassionate soul, endowed with vision, making a great sound, holding sword and shield, and the thunderbolt. (84)
शिल्पवैचित्र्यविद्योता सर्वतोभद्रवासिनी ।
अचिन्त्यलक्षणाकारा सूत्रभाष्यनिबन्धना ॥ ८५॥
Illuminating the wonders of arts, dwelling in the perfectly auspicious, having an unimaginable form, and the foundation of aphorisms and commentaries. (85)
सर्ववेदार्थसम्पत्तिस्सर्वशास्त्रार्थमातृका ।
अकारादिक्षकारान्तसर्ववर्णकृतस्थला ॥ ८६॥
The wealth of all Vedic meanings, the mother of the meanings of all scriptures, and the place of all letters from A to Ksha. (86)
सर्वलक्ष्मीस्सदानन्दा सारविद्या सदाशिवा ।
सर्वज्ञा सर्वशक्तिश्च खेचरीरूपगोच्छ्रिता ॥ ८७॥
All-Lakshmi, always blissful, the essence of knowledge, Sada-Shiva, all-knowing, all-powerful, and elevated in the form of Khechari (moving in the sky). (87)
अणिमादिगुणोपेता परा काष्ठा परा गतिः ।
हंसयुक्तविमानस्था हंसारूढा शशिप्रभा ॥ ८८॥
Endowed with qualities like Anima, the supreme limit, the supreme goal, seated in a swan-drawn chariot, riding a swan, and having the luster of the moon. (88)
भवानी वासनाशक्तिराकृतिस्थाखिलाऽखिला ।
तन्त्रहेतुर्विचित्राङ्गी व्योमगङ्गाविनोदिनी ॥ ८९॥
Bhavani, the power of tendencies, situated in forms, the all, the non-all, the cause of Tantras, having wonderful limbs, and sporting in the celestial Ganges. (89)
वर्षा च वार्षिका चैव ऋग्यजुस्सामरूपिणी ।
महानदीनदीपुण्याऽगण्यपुण्यगुणक्रिया ॥ ९०॥
Rain, the annual, the form of Rig, Yajur, and Sama Vedas, the great river, the holy river, and having innumerable holy qualities and actions. (90)
समाधिगतलभ्यार्था श्रोतव्या स्वप्रिया घृणा ।
नामाक्षरपरा देवी उपसर्गनखाञ्चिता ॥ ९१॥
The goal attained through Samadhi, worthy to be heard, loving herself, compassion, the supreme Goddess of the letters of names, and adorned with prefixes and nails. (91)
निपातोरुद्वयीजङ्घा मातृका मन्त्ररूपिणी ।
आसीना च शयाना च तिष्ठन्ती धावनाधिका ॥ ९२॥
The particles, the two thighs and shanks, the matrix (Matrika), the form of mantras, seated, sleeping, standing, and excelling in running. (92)
लक्ष्यलक्षणयोगाढ्या ताद्रूप्यगणनाकृतिः ।
सैकरूपा नैकरूपा सेन्दुरूपा तदाकृतिः ॥ ९३॥
Endowed with the yoga of target and characteristics, the form of calculating that specific nature, having one form, having many forms, having the form of the moon, and having that form. (93)
समासतद्धिताकारा विभक्तिवचनात्मिका ।
स्वाहाकारा स्वधाकारा श्रीपत्यर्धाङ्गनन्दिनी ॥ ९४॥
The form of compounds and derivatives, the soul of grammatical cases and numbers, the utterance of Svaha, the utterance of Svadha, and the delighter of the half-body of the Lord of Shri. (94)
गम्भीरा गहना गुह्या योनिलिङ्गार्धधारिणी ।
शेषवासुकिसंसेव्या चषाला वरवर्णिनी ॥ ९५॥
Deep, impenetrable, secret, bearing the half of Yoni and Linga, served by Shesha and Vasuki, the Chashala (sacrificial post), and the one of excellent complexion. (95)
कारुण्याकारसम्पत्तिः कीलकृन्मन्त्रकीलिका ।
शक्तिबीजात्मिका सर्वमन्त्रेष्टाक्षयकामना ॥ ९६॥
The wealth of the form of compassion, the pin-maker, the pin of mantras, the soul of the seed of power, desired by all mantras, and having imperishable desires. (96)
आग्नेयी पार्थिवा आप्या वायव्या व्योमकेतना ।
सत्यज्ञानात्मिकाऽऽनन्दा ब्राह्मी ब्रह्म सनातनी ॥ ९७॥
Relating to fire, relating to earth, relating to water, relating to wind, having space as a banner, the soul of truth and knowledge, bliss, Brahmi, Brahman, and the eternal. (97)
अविद्यावासना मायाप्रकृतिस्सर्वमोहिनी ।
शक्तिर्धारणशक्तिश्च चिदचिच्छक्तियोगिनी ॥ ९८॥
The tendency of ignorance, Maya, nature, the enchantress of all, power, the power of retention, and the union of conscious and unconscious powers. (98)
वक्त्रारुणा महामाया मरीचिर्मदमर्दिनी ।
विराड् स्वाहा स्वधा शुद्धा नीरूपास्तिस्सुभक्तिगा ॥ ९९॥
Red-faced, the great illusion, the ray of light, the crusher of pride, Virat, Svaha, Svadha, the pure one, the formless one, and the one attained by good devotion. (99)
निरूपिताद्वयीविद्या नित्यानित्यस्वरूपिणी ।
वैराजमार्गसञ्चारा सर्वसत्पथदर्शिनी ॥ १००॥
The defined non-dual knowledge, the form of eternal and non-eternal, moving on the path of Viraj, and showing the good path to all. (100)
जालन्धरी मृडानी च भवानी भवभञ्जनी ।
त्रैकालिकज्ञानतन्तुस्त्रिकालज्ञानदायिनी ॥ १०१॥
Jalandhari, Mridani, Bhavani, the breaker of worldly existence, the thread of knowledge of the three times, and the giver of the knowledge of the three times. (101)
नादातीता स्मृतिः प्रज्ञा धात्रीरूपा त्रिपुष्करा ।
पराजिताविधानज्ञा विशेषितगुणात्मिका ॥ १०२॥
Beyond sound, memory, intellect, the form of the sustainer, the three lotuses, the knower of the rules of the undefeated, and the soul of specified qualities. (102)
हिरण्यकेशिनी हेमब्रह्मसूत्रविचक्षणा ।
असंख्येयपरार्धान्तस्वरव्यञ्जनवैखरी ॥ १०३॥
Golden-haired, skilled in the golden Brahma-sutra, the innumerable, the end of the highest number, vowels, consonants, and spoken speech. (103)
मधुजिह्वा मधुमती मधुमासोदया मधुः ।
माधवी च महाभागा मेघगम्भीरनिस्वना ॥ १०४॥
Honey-tongued, having honey, the dawn of the spring month, honey, Madhavi, the highly fortunate, and sounding deep like a thundercloud. (104)
ब्रह्मविष्णुमहेशादिज्ञातव्यार्थविशेषगा ।
नाभौ वह्निशिखाकारा ललाटे चन्द्रसन्निभा ॥ १०५॥
Knowing the specific meanings to be known by Brahma, Vishnu, Maheshwara, etc., having the form of a flame in the navel, and resembling the moon on the forehead. (105)
भ्रूमध्ये भास्कराकारा सर्वताराकृतिर्हृदि ।
कृत्तिकादिभरण्यन्तनक्षत्रेष्ट्यार्चितोदया ॥ १०६॥
Having the form of the sun between the eyebrows, having the form of all stars in the heart, and rising when worshipped by sacrifices to the stars from Krittika to Bharani. (106)
ग्रहविद्यात्मिका ज्योतिर्ज्योतिर्विन्मतिजीविका ।
ब्रह्माण्डगर्भिणी बाला सप्तावरणदेवता ॥ १०७॥
The soul of the science of planets, light, the intellect and livelihood of astrologers, having the universe in her womb, the young girl, and the deity of the seven coverings. (107)
वैराजोत्तमसाम्राज्या कुमारकुशलोदया ।
बगला भ्रमराम्बा च शिवदूती शिवात्मिका ॥ १०८॥
The supreme empire of Viraj, the dawn of youth and skill, Bagala, Bhramaramba, the messenger of Shiva, and the soul of Shiva. (108)
मेरुविन्ध्यादिसंस्थाना काश्मीरपुरवासिनी ।
योगनिद्रा महानिद्रा विनिद्रा राक्षसाश्रिता ॥ १०९॥
Residing in Meru, Vindhya, etc., dwelling in the city of Kashmir, the sleep of yoga, the great sleep, sleepless, and served by Rakshasas. (109)
सुवर्णदा महागङ्गा पञ्चाख्या पञ्चसंहतिः ।
सुप्रजाता सुवीरा च सुपोषा सुपतिश्शिवा ॥ ११०॥
The giver of gold, the great Ganges, the five names, the five assemblies, having good progeny, having good heroes, the good nourisher, having a good husband, and Shiva. (110)
सुगृहा रक्तबीजान्ता हतकन्दर्पजीविका ।
समुद्रव्योममध्यस्था समबिन्दुसमाश्रया ॥ १११॥
Having good homes, ending with Raktabija, the livelihood of the slain cupid, situated in the middle of the ocean and space, and resting on the even bindu. (111)
सौभाग्यरसजीवातुस्सारासारविवेकदृक् ।
त्रिवल्यादिसुपुष्टाङ्गा भारती भरताश्रिता ॥ ११२॥
The life-giving medicine of the essence of fortune, seeing the difference between the essential and non-essential, having a well-nourished body with three folds, Bharati, and served by Bharata. (112)
नादब्रह्ममयीविद्या ज्ञानब्रह्ममयीपरा ।
ब्रह्मनाडी निरुक्तिश्च ब्रह्मकैवल्यसाधनम् ॥ ११३॥
The knowledge made of the sound Brahman, the supreme made of the knowledge Brahman, the nerve of Brahman, the derivation, and the means to the liberation of Brahman. (113)
कालिकेयमहोदारवीर्यविक्रमरूपिणी ।
वडबाग्निशिखावक्त्रा महाकबलतर्पणा ॥ ११४॥
The extraordinarily generous valor and prowess of Kalikeya, having the submarine fire as her face, and satisfied with a great mouthful. (114)
महाभूता महादर्पा महासारा महाक्रतुः ।
पञ्जभूतमहाग्रासा पञ्चभूताधिदेवता ॥ ११५॥
The great elements, the great pride, the great essence, the great sacrifice, the great devourer of the five elements, and the presiding deity of the five elements. (115)
सर्वप्रमाणा सम्पत्तिस्सर्वरोगप्रतिक्रिया ।
ब्रह्माण्डान्तर्बहिर्व्याप्ता विष्णुवक्षोविभूषणी ॥ ११६॥
The wealth of all proofs, the remedy for all diseases, pervading inside and outside the universe, and the adornment of Vishnu's chest. (116)
शाङ्करी विधिवक्त्रस्था प्रवरा वरहेतुकी ।
हेममाला शिखामाला त्रिशिखा पञ्चमोचना ॥ ११७॥
Shankari, situated in the mouth of Brahma, the most excellent, the cause of boons, the golden garland, the garland of flames, the three flames, and the releaser of the five. (117)
सर्वागमसदाचारमर्यादा यातुभञ्जनी ।
पुण्यश्लोकप्रबन्धाढ्या सर्वान्तर्यामिरूपिणी ॥ ११८॥
The boundary of all Agamas and good conduct, the breaker of demons, rich in the composition of holy verses, and the form of the inner controller of all. (118)
सामगानसमाराध्या श्रोत्रकर्णरसायनम् ।
जीवलोकैकजीवातुर्भद्रोदारविलोकना ॥ ११९॥
Worshipped well by the singing of Sama Veda, the elixir for the ears and hearing, the sole life-medicine of the living world, and having an auspicious and generous glance. (119)
तटित्कोटिलसत्कान्तिस्तरुणी हरिसुन्दरी ।
मीननेत्रा च सेन्द्राक्षी विशालाक्षी सुमङ्गला ॥ १२०॥
Having the shining luster of ten million lightnings, the young woman, the beautiful one of Hari, fish-eyed, having the eyes of Indra, large-eyed, and very auspicious. (120)
सर्वमङ्गलसम्पन्ना साक्षान्मङ्गलदेवता ।
देहहृद्दीपिका दीप्तिर्जिह्मपापप्रणाशिनी ॥ १२१॥
Endowed with all auspiciousness, the manifest deity of auspiciousness, the lamp of the body and heart, the radiance, and the destroyer of crooked sins. (121)
अर्धचन्द्रोल्लसद्दंष्ट्रा यज्ञवाटीविलासिनी ।
महादुर्गा महोत्साहा महादेवबलोदया ॥ १२२॥
Having fangs shining like the half-moon, sporting in the sacrificial enclosure, the great Durga, having great enthusiasm, and the dawn of the power of Mahadeva. (122)
डाकिनीड्या शाकिनीड्या साकिनीड्या समस्तजुट् ।
निरङ्कुशा नाकिवन्द्या षडाधाराधिदेवता ॥ १२३॥
Praised as Dakini, praised as Shakini, praised as Sakini, joined with all, the ungoaded, worshipped by the dwellers of heaven, and the presiding deity of the six chakras. (123)
भुवनज्ञानिनिश्श्रेणी भुवनाकारवल्लरी ।
शाश्वती शाश्वताकारा लोकानुग्रहकारिणी ॥ १२४॥
The ladder for the knowers of the world, the creeper of the form of the world, eternal, having an eternal form, and the showerer of grace on the world. (124)
सारसी मानसी हंसी हंसलोकप्रदायिनी ।
चिन्मुद्रालङ्कृतकरा कोटिसूर्यसमप्रभा ॥ १२५॥
Sarasi, Manasi, Hamsi, the giver of the realm of swans, having hands adorned with the Chinmudra (gesture of consciousness), and having the brilliance of ten million suns. (125)
सुखप्राणिशिरोरेखा सददृष्टप्रदायिनी ।
सर्वसाङ्कर्यदोषघ्नी ग्रहोपद्रवनाशिनी ॥ १२६॥
The head-line of happy beings, the bestower of good fortune, the destroyer of all sins of intermixture, and the destroyer of planetary afflictions. (126)
क्षुद्रजन्तुभयघ्नी च विषरोगादिभञ्जनी ।
सदाशान्ता सदाशुद्धा गृहच्छिद्रनिवारिणी ॥ १२७॥
The destroyer of fear from small creatures, the breaker of poison and diseases, always peaceful, always pure, and the preventer of domestic troubles. (127)
कलिदोषप्रशमनी कोलाहलपुरस्स्थिता ।
गौरी लाक्षणकी मुख्या जघन्याकृतिवर्जिता ॥ १२८॥
The pacifier of the faults of Kali Yuga, stationed before the uproar, Gauri, the characterized one, the principal one, and devoid of the lowest form. (128)
माया विद्या मूलभूता वासवी विष्णुचेतना ।
वादिनी वसुरूपा च वसुरत्नपरिच्छदा ॥ १२९॥
Maya, knowledge, the root source, Vasavi, the consciousness of Vishnu, the speaker, the form of the Vasus, and covered with the jewels of the Vasus. (129)
छान्दसी चन्द्रहृदया मन्त्रस्वच्छन्दभैरवी ।
वनमाला वैजयन्ती पञ्चदिव्यायुधात्मिका ॥ १३०॥
Chandasi, the heart of the moon, the independent Bhairavi of mantras, wearing the garland of forest flowers, Vaijayanti, and the soul of the five divine weapons. (130)
पीताम्बरमयी चञ्चत्कौस्तुभा हरिकामिनी ।
नित्या तथ्या रमा रामा रमणी मृत्युभञ्जनी ॥ १३१॥
Made of yellow garments, having the shining Kaustubha gem, the beloved of Hari, the eternal, the truthful, Rama, Rama, the beautiful one, and the breaker of death. (131)
ज्येष्ठा काष्ठा धनिष्ठान्ता शराङ्गी निर्गुणप्रिया ।
मैत्रेया मित्रविन्दा च शेष्यशेषकलाशया ॥ १३२॥
Jyeshtha, Kastha, ending with Dhanishtha, armed with arrows, fond of the attributeless, Maitreya, Mitravinda, and the resting place of the remaining and non-remaining phases. (132)
वाराणसीवासरता चार्यावर्तजनस्तुता ।
जगदुत्पत्तिसंस्थानसंहारत्रयकारणम् ॥ १३३॥
Devoted to dwelling in Varanasi, praised by the people of Aryavarta, and the cause of the three: creation, maintenance, and destruction of the universe. (133)
त्वमम्ब विष्णुसर्वस्वं नमस्तेऽस्तु महेश्वरि ।
नमस्ते सर्वलोकानां जनन्यै पुण्यमूर्तये ॥ १३४॥
O Mother, you are the all-in-all of Vishnu, salutations to you, O great Goddess! Salutations to the mother of all worlds, to the embodiment of merit. (134)
सिद्धलक्ष्मीर्महाकालि महलक्ष्मि नमोऽस्तु ते ।
सद्योजातादिपञ्चाग्निरूपा पञ्चकपञ्चकम् ॥ १३५॥
Siddhalakshmi, Mahakali, Mahalakshmi, salutations to you. The form of the five fires starting with Sadyojata, the five of fives. (135)
यन्त्रलक्ष्मीर्भवत्यादिराद्याद्ये ते नमो नमः ।
सृष्ट्यादिकारणाकारवितते दोषवर्जिते ॥ १३६॥
Yantralakshmi, the origin of becoming, the primal of the primal, salutations, salutations to you. The expanded form of the cause of creation etc., devoid of faults. (136)
जगल्लक्ष्मीर्जगन्मातर्विष्णुपत्नि नमोऽस्तु ते ।
नवकोटिमहाशक्तिसमुपास्यपदाम्बुजे ॥ १३७॥
Lakshmi of the universe, Mother of the universe, consort of Vishnu, salutations to you. The lotus feet well-worshipped by nine crores of great powers. (137)
कनत्सौवर्णरत्नाढ्ये सर्वाभरणभूषिते ।
अनन्तानित्यमहिषीप्रपञ्चेश्वरनायकि ॥ १३८॥
Rich in shining gold and jewels, adorned with all ornaments, the eternal consort of Ananta, the leader of the Lord of the universe. (138)
अत्युच्छ्रितपदान्तस्थे परमव्योमनायकि ।
नाकपृष्ठगताराध्ये विष्णुलोकविलासिनि ॥ १३९॥
Standing at the end of the highest state, the leader of the supreme space, worshipped on the back of heaven, and sporting in the realm of Vishnu. (139)
वैकुण्ठराजमहिषि श्रीरङ्गनगराश्रिते ।
रङ्गनायकि भूपुत्रि कृष्णे वरदवल्लभे ॥ १४०॥
The consort of the King of Vaikuntha, taking refuge in the city of Shrirangam, the leader of Ranga, the daughter of the earth, the beloved of Krishna, the granter of boons. (140)
कोटिब्रह्मादिसंसेव्ये कोटिरुद्रादिकीर्तिते ।
मातुलुङ्गमयं खेटं सौवर्णचषकं तथा ॥ १४१॥
Worshipped by crores of Brahmas etc., praised by crores of Rudras etc., holding the citron fruit, the shield, and the golden cup. (141)
पद्मद्वयं पूर्णकुम्भं कीरञ्च वरदाभये ।
पाशमङ्कुशकं शङ्खं चक्रं शूलं कृपाणिकाम् ॥ १४२॥
Holding two lotuses, a full pitcher, a parrot, and the gestures of granting boons and fearlessness, the noose, the goad, the conch, the discus, the trident, and the sword. (142)
धनुर्बाणौ चाक्षमालां चिन्मुद्रामपि बिभ्रती ।
अष्टादशभुजे लक्ष्मीर्महाष्टादशपीठगे ॥ १४३॥
Bearing a bow and arrow, a rosary, and the gesture of consciousness. The eighteen-armed Lakshmi, situated on the great eighteen seats. (143)
भूमिनीलादिसंसेव्ये स्वामिचित्तानुवर्तिनि।
पद्मे पद्मालये पद्मि पूर्णकुम्भाभिषेचिते ॥ १४४॥
Served by Bhumi, Nila, etc., following the mind of the Lord, Padma, dwelling in a lotus, Padmi, and bathed from a full pitcher. (144)
इन्दिरेन्दिन्दिराभाक्षि क्षीरसागरकन्यके ।
भार्गवि त्वं स्वतन्त्रेच्छा वशीकृतजगत्पतिः ॥ १४५॥
Indira, having eyes resembling large bees, the daughter of the milky ocean, Bhargavi, you have independent will, and have subdued the Lord of the universe. (145)
मङ्गलं मङ्गलानां त्वं देवतानां च देवता ।
त्वमुत्तमोत्तमानाञ्च त्वं श्रेयः परमामृतम् ॥ १४६॥
You are the auspiciousness of all auspicious things, the deity of deities, you are the highest of the high, you are the supreme immortal bliss. (146)
धनधान्याभिवृद्धिश्च सार्वभौमसुखोच्छ्रया ।
आन्दोलिकादिसौभाग्यं मत्तेभादिमहोदयः ॥ १४७॥
The increase of wealth and grain, the height of universal sovereignty, the good fortune of palanquins etc., and the great rise of intoxicated elephants etc. (147)
पुत्रपौत्राभिवृद्धिश्च विद्याभोगबलादिकम् ।
आयुरारोग्यसम्पत्तिरष्टैश्वर्यं त्वमेव हि ॥ १४८॥
The increase of sons and grandsons, knowledge, enjoyment, strength, etc., long life, health, wealth, and the eight sovereign powers are you indeed. (148)
पदमेव विभूतिश्च सूक्ष्मासूक्ष्मतरागतिः ।
सदयापाङ्गसन्दत्तब्रह्मेन्द्रादिपदस्थितिः ॥ १४९॥
The state, the prosperity, the subtle and subtlest path, and the state of the positions of Brahma, Indra, etc., granted by a compassionate side-glance. (149)
अव्याहतमहाभाग्यं त्वमेवाक्षोभ्यविक्रमः ।
समन्वयश्च वेदानामविरोधस्त्वमेव हि ॥ १५०॥
Unobstructed great fortune, you are indeed of unshakeable prowess, and you alone are the harmonization and non-contradiction of the Vedas. (150)
निःश्रेयसपदप्राप्तिसाधनं फलमेव च ।
श्रीमन्त्रराजराज्ञी च श्रीविद्या क्षेमकारिणी ॥ १५१॥
The means to attain the state of highest bliss and the fruit thereof, the queen of the king of Shrimantras, the Shrividya, and the maker of welfare. (151)
श्रीबीजजपसन्तुष्टा ऐं ह्रीं श्रीं बीजपालिका ।
प्रपत्तिमार्गसुलभा विष्णुप्रथमकिङ्करी ॥ १५२॥
Satisfied by the chanting of the Shri seed-syllable, the protector of the seeds Aim, Hrim, Shrim, easily accessible through the path of surrender, and the foremost servant of Vishnu. (152)
क्लीङ्कारार्थसवित्री च सौमङ्गल्याधिदेवता ।
श्रीषोडशाक्षरीविद्या श्रीयन्त्रपुरवासिनी ॥ १५३॥
The mother of the meaning of the syllable Klim, the presiding deity of good fortune, the sixteen-syllable Shrividya, and dwelling in the city of the Shriyantra. (153)
सर्वमङ्गलमाङ्गल्ये शिवे सर्वार्थसाधिके ।
शरण्ये त्र्यम्बके देवि नारायणि नमोऽस्तु ते ॥ १५४॥
To the auspiciousness of all auspiciousness, to the good, to the accomplisher of all objectives, to the source of refuge, to the three-eyed Goddess Narayani, salutations to you. (154)
पुनः पुनर्नमस्तेऽस्तु साष्टाङ्गमयुतं पुनः ।
Salutations to You again and again. Prostrations with eight limbs ten thousand times again.
सनत्कुमार उवाच-
एवं स्तुता महालक्ष्मीर्ब्रह्मरुद्रादिभिस्सुरैः ।
नमद्भिरार्तैर्दीनैश्च निस्स्वत्वैर्भोगवर्जितैः ॥ १॥
Sanatkumara said: Being praised thus by the gods like Brahma and Rudra, by the bowing, the distressed, the afflicted, the destitute, and those devoid of enjoyments... (1)
ज्येष्ठा जुष्टैश्च निश्श्रीकैस्संसारात्स्वपरायणैः ।
विष्णुपत्नी ददौ तेषां दर्शनं दृष्टितर्पणम् ॥ २॥
...by those afflicted by Jyestha (misfortune), by those devoid of prosperity, and by those devoted to their own path away from the cycle of worldly existence; the consort of Vishnu gave them Her vision that satisfied their eyes. (2)
शरत्पूर्णेन्दुकोट्याभधवलापाङ्गवीक्षणैः ।
सर्वात्सत्त्वसमाविष्टांश्चक्रे हृष्टा वरं ददौ ॥ ३॥
With glances from the corners of her eyes that were dazzling like millions of full moons in autumn, she filled all beings with goodness and, being pleased, granted boons. (3)
महालक्ष्मीरुवाच-
नाम्नां साष्टसहस्रं मे प्रमादाद्वापि यस्सकृत् ।
कीर्तयेत्तत्कुले सत्यं वसाम्याचन्द्रतारकम् ॥ ४॥
Mahalakshmi said: Whoever recites my one thousand and eight names even once, even by mistake, I truly reside in their family as long as the moon and stars exist. (4)
किं पुनर्नियमाज्जप्तुर्मदेकशरणस्य च ।
मातृवत्सानुकम्पाहं पोषकी स्यामहर्निशम् ॥ ५॥
What to speak of one who chants it regularly and whose sole refuge is me? Like a mother compassionate to her calf, I shall be their nourisher day and night. (5)
मन्नाम स्तवतां लोके दुर्लभं नास्ति चिन्तितम् ।
मत्प्रसादेन सर्वेऽपि स्वस्वेष्टार्थमवाप्स्यथ ॥ ६॥
For those who praise my names in the world, nothing they think of is difficult to obtain. By my grace, you will all attain your respective desired objects. (6)
लुप्तवैष्णवधर्मस्य मद्व्रतेष्ववकीर्णिनः ।
भक्तिप्रपत्तिहीनस्य वन्द्यो नाम्नां जरापि मे ॥ ७॥
Even for one who has lost the Vaishnava dharma, who has failed in my vows, or who is devoid of devotion and surrender, my names are worthy of worship, even a fraction of them. (7)
तस्मादवश्यं तैर्दोषैर्विहीनः पापवर्जितः ।
जपेत्साष्टसहस्रं मे नाम्नां प्रत्यहमादरात् ॥ ८॥
Therefore, one who is devoid of those faults and free from sins should surely chant my one thousand and eight names every day with respect. (8)
साक्षादलक्ष्मीपुत्रोऽपि दुर्भाग्योऽप्यलसोऽपि वा ।
अप्रयत्नोऽपि मूढोऽपि विकलः पतितोऽपि च ॥ ९॥
Even if one is directly a son of Alakshmi (misfortune), or unfortunate, or lazy, or effortless, or foolish, or disabled, or fallen... (9)
अवशात्प्राप्नुयाद्भाग्यं मत्प्रसादेन केवलम् ।
स्पृहेयमचिराद्देवाः वरदानाय जापिनः ॥ १०॥
...they shall helplessly attain good fortune solely by my grace. O gods! I am eager to grant boons to the chanters without delay. (10)
ददामि सर्वमिष्टार्थं लक्ष्मीति स्मरतां ध्रुवम् ।
I grant all desired objects to those who remember me as Lakshmi, this is certain.
Sanatkumara said: Having said this, Lakshmi, the Vaishnavi, the divine manifestation of the Lord, disappeared. (11)
सनत्कुमार उवाच-
इत्युक्त्वाऽन्तर्दधे लक्ष्मीर्वैष्णवी भगवत्कला ॥ ११॥
Names of Goddess Lakshmi, extolling her infinite divine attributes, forms, and cosmic powers. (155)
इष्टापूर्तं च सुकृतं भागधेयं च चिन्तितम् ।
स्वं स्वं स्थानं च भोगं च विजयं लेभिरे सुराः ॥ १२॥
The gods attained their merits from sacrifices and public works, their good deeds, their desired fortune, their respective abodes, enjoyments, and victory. (12)
तदेतत् प्रवदाम्यद्य लक्ष्मीनामसहस्रकम् ।
योगिनः पठत क्षिप्रं चिन्तितार्थानवाप्स्यथ ॥ १३॥
Therefore, I speak this thousand names of Lakshmi today. O Yogis, read it quickly, and you will attain your desired objects. (13)
गार्ग्य उवाच-
सनत्कुमारोयोगीन्द्र इत्युक्त्वा स दयानिधिः ।
अनुगृह्य ययौ क्षिप्रं तांश्च द्वादशयोगिनः ॥ १४॥
Gargya said: Having said this, Sanatkumara, the lord of Yogis, that ocean of mercy, blessed them and quickly departed, and those twelve Yogis also departed. (14)
तस्मादेतद्रहस्यञ्च गोप्यं जप्यं प्रयत्नतः ।
अष्टम्यां च चतुर्दश्यां नवम्यां भृगुवासरे ॥ १५॥
Therefore, this secret should be protected and chanted with effort on the eighth day, the fourteenth day, the ninth day, and on Fridays. (15)
पौर्णमास्याममायां च पर्वकाले विशेषतः ।
जपेद्वा नित्यकार्येषु सर्वान्कामानवाप्नुयात् ॥ १६॥
Especially on the full moon, new moon, and festive occasions, or in daily duties, one should chant it and attain all desires. (16)
॥ इति श्रीस्कन्दपुराणे सनत्कुमारसंहितायां
लक्ष्मीसहस्रनामस्तोत्रं सम्पूर्णम् ॥
