Samartha Ramdas

śrī manobodhācī āratī (vedāṃceṃ jeṃ guhya)

(Manobodha Aarti in English (IAST))

Also known as vedamcem jem guhya sastramcem jem sara

An arati to the Manobodha, the set of verses Ramdas addressed to his own mind, and like the Dasbodh arati beside it in this corpus it turns the lamps for a text rather than for a person. What it praises first is the choice of language: the whole expanse was made in the ordinary words of the country, and yet rite and worship and knowledge are all in it and all of them deep, so that by merely turning it over in the mind the self becomes visible. The refrain hails the Manobodha as pure with the purity of one's own self and offers it the arati of the five breaths. One line counts the text exactly, at two hundred and five verses.
