श्रीराम नवमीRama Navami

Also called Ram Navami · Sri Rama Navami

The birth of Rāma, kept with a fast until midday and, in many houses, a nine-day pārāyaṇa of the Rāmacharitamānasa finishing on this morning.

When it falls

The ninth tithi of the bright fortnight of Chaitra, at noon — the hour of the birth at Ayodhyā. It closes the nine days of Vasanta Navrātri.

The tithi, not a date — the calendar date is a pañchāṅga reckoning and differs by region. Check your local pañchāṅga for this year.

The Reading

The Rāma Rakṣā Stotra, the Rām Stuti, and the Bāla Kāṇḍa — the book in which the birth is told.
