ଶ୍ରୀ ନିମ୍ବାଦ୍ରୀ ଲକ୍ଷ୍ମୀ ନୃସିଂହ ସ୍ତୋତ୍ରମ୍

A hymn to Narasiṃha as he is worshipped at Nimbādri, the Nimba hill, and the place-name closes almost every verse — lord of the Nimba mountain, lord of Nimbagiri, you who play in the caves of the great Nimba hill. That refrain is what distinguishes this from the general Narasiṃha hymns: it is a shrine text, tied to one rock. The opening verse is unusually tender for the form, describing the lion body as fragrant from contact with Ramā's breast. The third turns on the speaker rather than the god and is the frankest self-description in the group: made helpless by the arrows of desire, greedy for a woman's face, a man who is really a beast — make this beast subject to your lotus feet instead. The last verse asks pardon not for sin but for bad grammar, in the poet's own words, for faults of language in the hymn he has just made.
