ଶ୍ରୀ ଗୌରୀ ସପ୍ତଶ୍ଲୋକୀ ସ୍ତୁତିଃ

Seven verses to Gauri, and the form the first one fixes is not the one her name usually calls up. She holds a new vina at the edge of her hand, red, her face marked with a spot of colour, and her house is the courtyard of a flowering kadamba tree — which is the setting the hymns of Matangi and Shyamala use. The speaker adds that he comes to her by the teacher's authority and not his own. The verses that follow keep to the same close, particular manner rather than to the cosmic register. The closing verse fixes the hour, saying it is to be read at dawn every day by one who keeps the rule.
