oṃ āpyāyantu mamāṅgāni vākprāṇaścakṣuḥ

(Apyayantu Mamangani in English (IAST))

The purpose of this Shanti mantra is to prepare oneself before studying or learning spiritual knowledge, particularly before reading the Upanishads (ancient Indian spiritual texts). The seeker sincerely asks that all parts of their being — their physical organs, limbs, speech, prana (vital air), strength, and all sense organs — become efficient enough to perform their respective duties properly and without any hindrance to the main objective, which is to truly grasp and learn what they are about to study. The mantra then focuses on Brahman (the ultimate Reality) and the teachings of the Upanishads.
