ଅସିତ କୃତ ଶିଵ ସ୍ତୋତ୍ର

Asita spoke:

Salutations to you, O Guru of the Universe, to Shiva, the bestower of auspiciousness. Salutations to the Guru of the Yogis, the supreme teacher of teachers.

O destroyer of the cycle of death and rebirth, who embodies the form of death to death itself, O Lord of death, seed of death, victory over death, salutations to you.

O cause of those who measure time, who is the time of time itself, O Lord beyond time, who transcends time, salutations to you, the time of time.

Beyond qualities, the foundation of qualities, the seed of qualities, the essence of qualities. O Lord of qualities, seed of the virtuous, salutations to the Guru of the virtuous.

O embodiment of Brahman, knower of Brahman, devoted to the contemplation of Brahman. In the form of the seed of Brahman, salutations to the seed of Brahman.

Having praised Shiva and bowed down, the great sage stood before him. Like a humble supplicant, with tearful eyes and a body thrilled with emotion.

The Fruits of Recitation:

Whoever recites this hymn composed by Asita with devotion, while subsisting on sacrificial food for a year, dedicated to the great soul Shankara,

Shall obtain a virtuous and wise son, long-lived and prosperous. The poor shall become wealthy, the mute shall become learned.

The unmarried shall obtain a virtuous and devoted wife. Enjoying happiness in this world, they shall ultimately reach the presence of Shiva.
