Lord Dattatreya

ঔদুম্বৰ পাদুকা স্তোত্ৰম্

(Audumbara Paduka Stotram in Assamese)

Vasudevananda Saraswati

Also known as Oudumbar Paduka Stotra · audumbar paduka stotram · datta paduka stotram

A hymn to the sandals of Dattatreya beneath the audumbara tree, composed by Vasudevananda Saraswati, the Tembe Swami of the Datta tradition. It opens by saluting the guru who is beyond speech and mind, without attributes and with them at once — Datta, son of Atri, the root of bliss who fulfils what his devotees long for — and then bows to him as the dweller in the audumbara, ever in the form of the lord of ascetics, awakening his own indwelling joy. The cluster-fig itself is named a wish-granting tree, giving happiness on every side. Recited on Thursdays and at audumbara shrines.
