The Chaurashtakam is a sublime devotional hymn dedicated to Lord Krishna, the divine thief who steals the hearts and sins of his devotees. Unlike a common thief, Krishna is celebrated as the Chauragraganya, the supreme among thieves, who steals butter from the Gopis, their garments, and ultimately the sorrows and negative karmas accumulated over many births.
