ಶ್ರೀ ಶಿವ ಸ್ತುತಿಃ (ದೇವಾಚಾರ್ಯ ಕೃತಮ್)

A chain-hymn, and the chain is the whole of its technique: the syllables that close each quarter-line open the next one, so the poem hooks into itself and cannot be recited out of order without the joins showing. Victory, Shankara, whose light is that of the peaceful moon — ruchi; giver of lovely wealth, giver of all, wholly pure — shuchi; purely given and taken, greatly offered to — hrita; who has carried off the risen heat of your devotees. The second verse picks up the last syllables of the first and runs on in the same way. Angiras is named as its speaker in the opening line, and the difficulty of the form is itself the offering — a hymn made hard on purpose, the way a temple carving is made intricate on purpose.
