Goddess Sita

śrī jānakī jī kī āratī

(Shree Janaki Ji Ki Aarti (Hindi) in English (IAST))

Also known as janaki ji ki aarti (hindi) · ji ki aarti · arati kijai janakalaliki ramamadhupamana kamalakaliki

A short Braj arati to Janaka's little daughter, and it works by pairing her with Rama in images that need both of them to mean anything. She is the lotus-bud to the bee that is Rama's mind; she is the cakori to the moon of Rama's face; the two deer of her beloved's eyes are tethered to her by a cord, and she is the resting-place where his mind's motion stops. One line puts the conceit outright and is the best in the song: dark within and fair without, because the dark one is inside her. The last verse names her mistress of the world, a treasury of beauty and savour and quality, practised in love, and gives the arati its signature, Harichand, calling her the whole of that poet's wealth. Three stanzas with the refrain returning after each.
