Lord Hanuman

śrīhanumadrakṣāstotram (sītārāmaśarmā)

(Srihanumadraksastotram Sitaramasarma in English (IAST))

Sitaramasharma

Also known as shri hanumad raksha stotram sitaramasharma · srihanumadraksastotra sitaramasarma · pranamya sriganesam ca sriramam marutim tatha

An armour, and its colophon says exactly where it comes from: Sitaramasharma made it after hearing the Rama Raksha Stotra, on which it is closely modelled. It works down the body, and the pleasure of it is in how the epithets are matched to the parts they are set to guard. Hanuman protects the head and the son of the wind the brow; Anjaneya the eyes, and the one dear to Ramachandra the ears; the great hero the nose, and the giver of Lakshmana's life the mouth; the swift-as-thought the tongue, and the conqueror of the senses the throat. Then Sankatamochana takes the arms, the all-powerful the heart, the leaper of the ocean the navel, the conqueror of the demon-king the hips, the one strong in his tail the thighs, and the burner of Lanka the knees.
