(Sri Arunachaleshwara Ashtottara Shatanamavali in English (IAST))
Also known as arunachaleshwara 108 names · arunachala shiva namavali · tiruvannamalai shiva namavali
The hundred and eight names of the Shiva of Arunachala — the hill at Tiruvannamalai that is itself held to be the god, which is why the litany begins not with a person but with a place. To the lord of the red hill, to the lord of the hill of dawn, to the lord of the gods, to the one dear to people, to the protector of those who have surrendered, to the steadfast, to Shiva, to the increaser of those who serve. The names that follow keep returning to the mountain and to the fire, since Arunachala is where Shiva is said to have appeared as a column of flame whose top and bottom Brahma and Vishnu could not find. Offered one name to a line, and used at the temple and at the circumambulation of the hill.
