ശ്രീ ദക്ഷിണാമൂര്തി ദണ്ഡകമ്
(Sri Dakshinamurthy Dandakam in Malayalam)
Also known as dakshinamurti dandakam · namaste dakshinamurtaye · dakshinamurthy dandaka stotram
A dandaka — a single unbroken sentence of rhythmic prose rather than a set of verses, recited in one breath-run as the form requires. It is built almost entirely of paired salutations, each pair naming a state and then the one who is its cause, its lord and its giver in turn: to him whose form is kaivalya, to the cause of kaivalya, to the lord of kaivalya; to him whose form is release, to the cause of release, to the giver of release, to the lord of those who are released; to him whose form is austerity, to the supreme ascetic, to the lord of ascetics. The device carries through the whole piece, so that the hymn advances not by describing Dakshinamurti but by turning every good a seeker wants into a name for him.
