ଶ୍ରୀ ଦକ୍ଷିଣାମୂର୍ତି ନଵରତ୍ନମାଲା ସ୍ତୋତ୍ରମ୍

Nine verses, a garland of nine jewels, each a complete picture of the seated teacher rather than a step in an argument. The first places him at the root of the banyan, served by the foremost of sages, his lotus hand half-closed into the particular gesture, the smile faint, the dress sweet, the crescent young at his crown, and asks that light to be in the heart. The second is the classical description in a longer metre — white as the autumn moon, the face lovely as the moon, earrings bright as moon and sun, cloth pale as moonlight, and in the four hands the vina, the book, the rosary and the gesture of exposition. The last returns to the banyan and the hand marked with the sharp seal of knowledge, and salutes him as the first teacher and the root of the bliss of kaivalya.
