Goddess Tiraskarini

श्री तिरस्करिणी ध्यानम्

(Sri Tiraskarini Dhyanam)

Also known as sri tiraskarini dhyana · shri tiraskarini dhyanam · shree tiraskarini dhyanam

The meditation verses on Tiraskarini, whose name means the one who screens or hides, and who is invoked in the Shrividya as the power of concealment rather than as a goddess in her own right. The figure given is dark, three-eyed with eyes rolling as if intoxicated, in black cloth and black ornaments and a black garland, mounted on a blue horse and going in front. Two of her four hands hold a sword; the other two, called lovely, carry a date-palm and a pot. The verse that explains the whole thing is the fourth: under the pretence of sleep she makes the world disappear. The rest sets her against the pashu, the unillumined, at whom the gesture of her hand is directed. Its first verse describes her unclothed and belongs to the left-hand register.
