ശ്രീ പരമേശ്വര സ്തുതിഃ (വസിഷ്ഠ കൃതമ്)

Vasishtha's hymn to Shiva, and it is a hymn to the linga rather than to a figure — every verse salutes another kind of it, which is rarer than one would expect. Salutation to the golden linga, salutation indeed to the Veda linga; salutation to the supreme linga, salutation indeed to the linga of space. The frame verse before them tells what came of it: having praised Shiva in the form of the linga with the gayatri, Vasishtha obtained yoga, and nirvana, the supreme brahman, from Shankara and from no other. The closing verse completes the story in the manner of a purana rather than a stotra: Shambhu of the fierce bow, the everlasting, having been praised by Vasishtha, gave him a boon and vanished on that very spot.
