(Viprakrta Hanumat Stotram Skandapurana in Kannada)
Also known as viprakrita hanumat stotram skanda purana · viprakrta hanumat stotra skandapurana · skandapurane brahmakhande dharmaranyakhande
From the thirty-seventh chapter of the Dharmaranya section in the Brahma Khanda of the Skanda Purana, and spoken by brahmins in the middle of an emergency: protect us, they say, who are sinking into the earth. The salutations around that line are chosen for a rescue — to Rama's devotee and the destroyer of Aksha; to the burner of the demons' city and the bearer of the thunderbolt; to the protector of Janaki's heart, the compassionate one; to him who was dear to Rama when Rama was scorched by the loss of Sita. Then it names him in the brahmins' own terms, which is what gives the piece its particular colour: god of the brahmins, well-wisher of cows and brahmins, of Rudra's form, black-faced, remover of every disease, and wearing a serpent for his sacred thread.
