śrīgaṇeśa āratī (kapola jharatī madeṃ)

(Ganesh Aarti (Kapol Jharati) in English (IAST))

Also known as ganesh aarti · ganesh ki aarti · ganesh aarti pdf

A Marathi aarti that opens on a detail no other aarti here uses: the must running down his cheeks, and the trunk arranged in its many folds. The vermilion on him is thick and gleaming, the little bells at his feet go ghul-ghul as he moves, his face is calm, and the meditation on it is itself the happiness. Victory, god in the elephant-man guise — the refrain names the double form outright. The second verse takes him into the tandava and gives the drum its syllables, ta-tak dhim ta-tha, with his head swaying in unbroken delight. The third turns to what is asked for and does not pretend the asking is spiritual: learning, wealth, heaps of gold, a wife, sons and houses — and only at the last moment, release.
