She who radiates like the early morning sun, who is resplendent with a thousand eyes, adorned with wonderful garlands and ornaments, and who dwells in the snow-clad mountains.

She whose lotus-like hands grant boons and fearlessness, who dwells on the banks of the Reva river, who is the knower of the secrets of Pranava (Om), and who is glorified by the form of the Yantra.

She who delights in the auspicious path, who follows the way of Govinda, who is praised by the assembly of divine sages, and who is adorned with a forest-flower garland.

She who resides in the supreme chariot, whose voice resonates like the deep rumbling of clouds, who moves with the grace of an intoxicated elephant, and who is seated upon a golden lotus.

She who is intent on uplifting the distressed, who is the Yogini and the upholder of Yoga, who delights in dance and drama, and whose essence is the primordial syllable Om.

She who is dear to the sage Garga, who is the refuge of the Guru, who bears the linga of Guha within Her form, who is Savitri and the daughter of the Sun, and who pierces the Sushumna Nadi.

She who is effulgent, seated in bliss, possessor of a brilliant mind, worshipped by the gods, existing in the state of deep sleep, having beautiful teeth, beautiful in form, and draped in the ocean as her garment.

She whose face resembles the nectar-rayed moon, possessing beautiful breasts, beautiful eyes, the embodiment of purity (Sita), the refuge of goodness, the dusk (Sandhya), the giver of good fruits, and the one who orchestrates the functions of the universe.

She who is the refuge of all mantras, the wish-fulfilling cow, the destroyer of sins, and the Supreme Goddess; salutations to you, Great Lakshmi, the giver of supreme wealth.

Salutations to you, O embodiment of compassion; salutations to you, who are fond of your devotees. Whoever chants these hundred and eight names of Gayatri, the merit and fruit of that act cannot be described even by Lord Brahma himself.
