Lord Hanuman

śrīhanumadaṣṭāviṃśatināmastotram

(Srihanumadastavimsatinamastotram in English (IAST))

Also known as hanumat ashtavimshatinama stotram · srihanumadastavimsatinamastotra · sundaram hanumanmantramidameva harisvara

Twenty-eight names spoken by Brahma, and the interest of the list is where it ends up. It opens where such lists do — Hanuman, Anjana's son, the wind's child, of great strength, lord of monkeys, tawny-eyed, the terror of the island of Lanka — and moves through the deeds: ender of Aksha, Rama's friend, the one who shouldered Rama's work, carrier-off of the mountain of great herbs, giver of life to the monkeys, breaker of Mount Mainaka. Then it turns, and its closing names are Shaiva almost without exception: chaste, conqueror of anger, spotless, hidden in the plantain grove, setter in motion of all mantras, establisher of the great linga, maker of a commentary, best among those who recite, and ever intent on the meditation and the worship of Shiva.
