Lord Hanuman

ஶ்ரீஹநுமத்ஸ்தோத்ரம் (விபீஷண க்ரு'த)

(Srihanumatstotram Vibhisana Krta in Tamil)

Also known as hanumat stotram apannakhilalokartiharine · srihanumatstotra vibhisana krta · apannakhilalokartiharine hanumate

Nine verses given to Vibhishana, and what they ask for is health rather than victory. It opens on the two things it means to undo — the affliction of all the worlds that are beleaguered, and calamity that arrives without warning — and it holds that register throughout: remover of trouble of the mind and trouble of the body, of great pestilence, of the affliction of the planets; reviver of whoever comes for refuge; the one who kept Saumitri alive. Vibhishana's own verse sets the scene at the worst moment, when Rama had been parted from Sita. Its closing three lines are the reason to keep this apart from the other Vibhishana stotra here: it is a counter-charm and says so, turning back another's mantra, another's tantra and another's yantra, undoing another's learning, and standing guard over your own.
