శ్రీ శివ స్తుతిః (ఇన్ద్రాది కృతమ్)

Indra and the gods praise Shiva in the Varaha Purana, and the hymn is a petition with a specific occasion behind it — they are in fear of a demon and say so. We all salute, we who seek refuge, Maheshvara, three-eyed, bringer-into-being of creatures; lord of Uma, lord of the world, lord of the winds, lord of the moving world, Shankara, protect us yourself. The second verse sets the image before the request: the light of the moon at the crest of the mass of your matted hair, by which the whole spotless three worlds are lit; trident in hand, best of beings, unfallen — protect us from the fear of the demon that has come upon us. It keeps that shape for thirteen verses, description then asking, without ever leaving the occasion behind.
