Lord Krishna

brahmavaivarte śambhukṛtaṃ śrīkṛṣṇastotram

(Mahadev Krit Shri Krishna Stotra in English (IAST))

Shiv Ji

Also known as shambhu krita krishna stotram · shiva krita krishna stotra · jayasvarupam jayadam jayesam jayakaranam pravaram jayadanam

Shiva's hymn to Krishna from the Brahmavaivarta Purana, and it is built by repetition rather than by argument. The first verse turns on victory — the form of victory, the giver of it, its lord, its cause, the best of those who give it — and closes on the one who was never defeated. The second and third do the same with the world, laying the word down ten times over: lord of the lord of the world, cause of the world, support of the world, standing in the world, the cause of the world's cause. Then fruit four times, and radiance three. What follows the praise is a single line of narrative that places the whole scene: having said this and bowed to him, and having spoken with Narayana, Shiva sat down on the good jewelled throne at his bidding.
