Lord Shiva

śrī maheśvara pañcaratna stotram

(Sri Mahesvara Pancaratna Stotram in English (IAST))

Adi Shankaracharya

Also known as maheshwara pancharatna stotram · shri mahesvara pancaratna stotram · shree mahesvara pancaratna stotram

Five verses attributed to Adi Shankaracharya, each beginning at daybreak and each taking one part of Shiva in turn. First the lotus face, which dried up the five arrows of Kama with the fire of its brow-eye, ash-marked, serpent-earringed, its faint smile as white as jasmine and moon and sandal. Then the arms, bearing khatvanga and trident and deer and Pinaka, still bright with the leaf-lines drawn on Gauri's cheek. Then the feet, which live in the minds of Brahma and the foremost of sages. Then the camphor-white form clothed in elephant hide, Ganga in its matted hair and Katyayani at its left. Last the holy name, which quiets the heat of samsara and gives the fruit of a crore of cows given away. The closing verse promises long life, health and the hard-won state of kaivalya.
