Goddess Kali

பரஶுராம க்ரு'த மஹாகாலீ ஸ்தோத்ரம்

(Parashurama Kruta Kali Stotram in Tamil)

Also known as parashurama kruta kali stotra · namah sankarakantayai sarayai te namo namah

Eight verses from the Ganesha Khanda of the Brahmavaivarta Purana, spoken by Parashurama, and short enough that the story around it is most of what it is. He salutes her as Shankara's beloved, as the essence, as the destroyer of misfortune, as Maya, and then as bearer of the world, maker of the world, mother of the world and cause of it. Then he stops praising and argues. You gave me a boon once before, in Shiva's world, and I have come to your feet to ask you to make that promise good; if you turn away from me, what lord is left who could protect me? The sixth verse is the answer, and it is two words long: Ambika was pleased with Renuka's son, said do not be afraid, and vanished where she stood. Its closing verses promise that whoever recites what Bhrigu's descendant composed crosses great fear as though in play.
