(Shree Haritalika Aarti in Malayalam)
Also known as haritalika aarti · jayadevi haritalike sakhi parvati ambike
The Marathi arati of the Hartalika vow, and it tells the goddess her own story in the second person, in the order she lived it. You dwell in Hara's half-body; you go to the sacrifice, to your father's house; there you meet with insult and vanish into the fire-pit. Then you enter Himadri's womb and are born his lovely daughter, and take up a fierce austerity at once, the discipline of the five fires, the swallowing of smoke, hanging head downward, and fast after fast, all of it for the sake of getting Shambhu for a husband. The retelling exists for the sake of the vow: you showed the sport to be seen, you keep this observance for people's sake, and you wed the matted-haired one a second time. Its last verse says the poet's wit is too small to praise her and asks only for the sight of her feet. Signed Narayana.
