Lord Kalabhairava

śrī baṭukabhairava aparādha kṣamāpana stotram

(Sri Batukabhairava Aparadha Ksamapana Stotram in English (IAST))

Also known as shri batukabhairava aparadha kshamapana stotram · shri batukabhairava aparadha ksamapana stotram · shree batukabhairava aparadha ksamapana stotram

A hymn asking pardon for offences, and almost the only text in this group that asks for nothing else. It works by enumerating failures with a precision that leaves no room to be pleased with oneself: I abandoned service to the guru though I was able to act on his word; I have been without your worship, without meditation on you, without japa and oblation and offering; and I never once made the effort even to have your image made. Only after that does it turn to the god, and then not to claim merit but to say that the world's net has swallowed the speaker. The register belongs to the kṣamāpana form, which closes a rite by conceding that the rite was performed badly, and it is placed at the end of Baṭuka Bhairava's worship for exactly that purpose.
