ಶ್ರೀಹನುಮಾನಸ್ತೋತ್ರಮ್ (ಸ್ವಾಮೀನಾರಾಯಣ)

Nine verses, each closing on the same address — Rama's envoy, Hanuman, take away my distress — and the first of them describes a man of affairs rather than a monkey: skilled in statecraft, his understanding formed by the Veda and the Agamas and the sciences, chief among the ministers of the lord of the Raghus, his body smeared with sindura, foremost of those who keep a strict rule. The verses that follow are one long compound apiece and take the campaign in order: the sole help in driving off the great trouble that came upon Raghu's best on Sita's account; the burning of the golden capital of the lord of demons; Lakshmana at the throat of Ravana's hurled weapon, and the Drona mountain fetched for him; Bharata's ocean of grief. The sixth turns to sorcery, and has him drive off what the sorcerers send with a single red glance.
