આરતી કીજે સુન્દર બરકી

A short Braj aarti in four couplets, signed at the end by Biharidas, whose eyes it calls chakoras that never look away. Perform the aarti of the beautiful bridegroom — Nandkishor, the joy of Yashoda, the fresh young gallant who takes away heat and darkness. It keeps to a handful of things and does not crowd them: his play in the woods, the soft enchanting laughter, the nectar that reaches the ear, the hand of the enchanter. The last line is the one that fixes the picture, and it does not describe him at all but what rests upon him — his Beloved's arm laid across his shoulder.
