ଶ୍ରୀ ଚନ୍ଦ୍ରମୌଲୀଶ ସ୍ତୋତ୍ରମ୍

A hymn to Śiva as Candramaulīśa — the liṅga worshipped daily at the Śṛṅgeri maṭha — composed by Sacchidānanda Śivābhinava Nṛsiṃha Bhāratī, who signs the colophon. It is short, seven verses, and each closes on the same words: constantly I bow to Candramaulīśa. Its construction is the interesting part, because the closing verse says what the reader may not have noticed — the hymn is built on the letters of the five-syllable mantra, each verse opening with one of them in order. The content is correspondingly compressed: he who gladly unfolds the meaning of Oṁ for those devoted to reciting it; whose two feet take away the pride of the lotus; from whom words turn back together with the mind, unable to reach him, as the ranks of scripture sing.
