śrīmahālakṣmīstotram (śrīdhara svāmī viracita)

(Sri Mahalakshmi Stotram (Sridhara Swami) in English (IAST))

Shridhara Swami

Also known as shridhara swami mahalakshmi stotram · sarva saubhagya rupa tvam · mahalakshmi stotram

Ten verses by Shridhara Swami, each closing on the same four words — Mahalakshmi, salutation to you — and built on a single figure carried the whole way: every kind of fortune there is, is named as a form of her. You are the form of all good fortune, whose nature is all wealth, whose form is all welfare. You are the fortune of people and the fortune of forests, the fortune of auspiciousness by your own nature; you are the fortune of brahman and the fortune of release. The device widens as it goes until nothing is left outside it, and the closing verse takes the last step: brahman without a second is under your sway, being of the nature of eternal bliss alone — so cast off the mind that thinks in differences.
