A meditation verse and thirteen more, and the meditation sets the tone: Matangi with eyes drunk on honey, moving as an elephant moves, holding a pot among her vessels, born together with the killing of Madhu, giver of good sons to whoever meditates on her, her sandals served by the women of the gods and the perfected. What follows is a chain of salutations that names her twice over in one line — daughter of Matanga, and Chandali the giver of desires — so that the tribal name and the Shrividya name of her stand side by side without comment. The closing verses promise everything hard to get in the three worlds, and at the end the state of Shiva.
