Goddess Matangi

শ্ৰী শ্যামলা ষোডশনাম স্তোত্ৰম্

(Sri Shyamala Shodashanama Stotram in Assamese)

From Brahmanda Purana

Also known as shri shyamala shodashanama stotram · shree shyamala shodashanama stotram · shyamala shodashanama stotram

Sixteen names from the seventeenth chapter of the Lalitopakhyana in the Brahmanda Purana, spoken by Hayagriva to Agastya, and they are the names by which Shyamala holds her office rather than her nature. She is the yogini of music, the dark one, Shyamala, mistress of the mantra, Mantrini, lady of the ministers, chief of the chiefs, beloved of the parrot, and last of all Sadamada, ever exhilarated. The verse that follows says what the sixteen do: whoever praises the mistress of the ministers by them even once holds the whole of the three worlds in his hand. The twenty-five names of Lalita from the next chapter also stand in this corpus.
