Lord Shiva

ॐ त्र्यम्बकं यजामहे

(Om Tryambakam Yajamahe)

Also known as om tryambakam yajamahe sugandhim pustivardhanam

Appearing in the Rigveda (7.59.12) and other Vedas, "Oṃ tryambakaṃ yajāmahe" is one of the most potent mantras in Hinduism, specifically for healing and overcoming the fear of death. Known as the "Maha mrityunjaya Mantra" (Great Death-Conquering Mantra), it is dedicated to Lord Shiva. This mantra is not merely a plea for physical health or life extension but, more profoundly, a call to overcome attachment to the mortal body and abide in the awareness of the eternal Self. By worshipping the three-eyed Lord Shiva, the devotee aspires for freedom from worldly bondage and the realisation of their immortality. The three eyes of Lord Shiva carry deep symbolic meaning.
