Lord Brihaspati

श्री बृहस्पति पञ्चविंशतिनाम स्तोत्रम्

(Brihaspati Panchavimshati Nama Stotram)

Also known as Brihaspati Stotram · Guru Stotram · 25 Names of Jupiter

Twenty-five names of Brihaspati, preceptor of the gods and lord of the planet Jupiter, opening with a salutation to the guru of all moving and unmoving things — at whose very praise, the verse says, what is desired comes to pass in an instant. The names that follow set out his offices and his form together: Suracharya, teacher of the devas; Nitijna and Nitikaraka, who knows and makes right conduct; Vagisha, lord of speech, and Vedavetta, knower of the Veda; then the golden-limbed, saffron-hued figure in yellow cloth with the long beard and the nectar-like gaze. Recited on Thursdays and in the propitiation of Jupiter, for learning, sound judgement and long life.
