দক্ষপ্ৰোক্তা কালীস্তুতিঃ

Eight verses spoken by Daksha in the eighth chapter of the Kalika Purana, and the same stuti stands in this corpus a second time, under Goddess Durga, in the recension the Shiva Purana gives it: four of the eight match that one at nine parts in ten, and the rest run parallel while diverging. Its argument is the delegation of the three works — it is by her appointing that the Ordainer was set to the making of the world and Vishnu to its keeping, so that what the three gods do is hers and not their own. The last verses turn from doing to seeing. Whoever once looks upon the Goddess directly, it says, she who makes both knowledge and ignorance plain, must certainly be released.
