Lord Hanuman

శ్రీహనుమద్ధ్యానమ్

(Srihanumaddhyanam in Telugu)

Also known as hanuman dhyanam markandeya puranatah · marakatamanivarnam divyasaundaryadeham

Three verses of meditation from the Markandeya Purana, and the first thing they do is give him a colour that almost nothing else does — the green of an emerald, on a body of divine beauty. His nails and his teeth are his weapons and both are likened to the thunderbolt; a crown bright as lightning sits on a head marked over with hair; his two eyes are wide open and have the sheen of green flowers. The second verse puts him in the act he is happiest in, reciting from his lotus mouth all the deeds of his master that are worthy of Rama, with crystal earrings and an arm like an elephant's trunk. The third is built for strength: hard as the thunderbolt, a long chest, feet like new lotuses, his enemies crushed underfoot.
