கேவலாஷ்டகம்

(Kevalashtakam in Tamil)

Also known as kevalashtak · madhuram madhurebhyo pi mangalebhyo pi mangalam

Eight verses that all end on the same three words: the name of Hari alone. Each is built so that the ending is the only place it can arrive. Sweeter than what is sweet, more auspicious than the auspicious, purer than the pure — the name of Hari alone. From Brahma down to a clump of grass the whole world is made of illusion; truly, truly, and truly again — the name of Hari alone. Hari dwells wherever the Bhagavatas sing with devotion — the name of Hari alone. The last verse makes the claim outright: reducing the entire world to a straw it shines above everything, pure and made of consciousness and bliss. The eight verses argue for nothing else and offer no other practice at all.
