Serpent Deities (Nagas)

सर्प सूक्तम्

(Sarpa Suktam)

From Taittiriya Samhita

Also known as namo astu sarpebhyo ye ke ca

The Sarpa Suktam is a powerful Vedic hymn originating from the Taittiriya Samhita of the Krishna Yajurveda. It is dedicated to the divine serpents that reside in the earth, the atmosphere, and the heavens. The hymn serves as an invocation of protection and respect towards these cosmic entities. Devotees chant this Suktam to seek relief from the negative impacts of planetary configurations like Rahu and Ketu, to overcome the fear of venomous creatures, and to attain harmony with nature. It is widely considered a protective shield against malevolent forces and environmental disturbances.
