श्रीगौमाता की आरती

A Hindi arati to the cow as mother, and it is worked almost entirely in alliterating triples, three qualities to a line, each beginning on the same letter. She is the giver of wealth and desire and good dharma, the giver of the unshakeable and stainless state of release, and the maker of good fortune for gods and men. She is the mother who sustains the entire world and the giver of sweet nectar-like milk and grain, and the deliverer from disease and grief and difficulty. Then a run on a: the increaser of life and vigour and health, the destroyer of sorrow and poverty and want, the revealer of beauty and ease and abundance. One line breaks the pattern to place her, calling her the beloved of the boy of Nanda, which is where the whole devotion to her comes from.
