ശ്രീ ബാലാ വാഞ്ഛാദാത്രീ സ്തോത്രമ്

The giver of what is wished for — thirteen verses whose stated purpose is stated in the first line, and honestly: I worship Bala for the sake of accomplishment in speech. She is described holding the rosary of learning and the fine gesture of the skull, her light like the kunda flower, her lovely body decked with pearls. The second verse moves her to a richer setting, seated beneath the wishing tree on a blazing jewelled seat, her eyes rolling as if with wine, red-coloured, the hands holding the citron, the skull, the arrow and the bow together with the noose and the goad. The two pictures — the pale goddess of speech and the red goddess of the tantra — sit side by side without being reconciled, which is characteristic of the Bala literature.
