Lord Budha (Mercury)

śrī budha pañcaviṃśatināma stotram

(Sri Budha Panchavimsati Nama Stotram in English (IAST))

Also known as shri budha panchavimsati nama stotram · shree budha panchavimsati nama stotram · budha panchavimsati nama stotram

Twenty-five names of Budha from the Padma Purana, told out in four and a half verses with the count itself named in the fourth, so that the whole thing is short enough to be said before setting out on a Wednesday morning. The names sort into three kinds. What he looks like: dark as the bud of the priyangu creeper, lotus-eyed, lovely, of gentle form. What he governs: best of the intelligent, giver of intelligence and increaser of it, lord of the lunar mansions, knower and knowledge itself and the chief of those who know. And what he is asked for, which is unusually concrete, since wealth is followed by wife and children and grain and cattle in a single compound. Its closing lines promise that recitation on his own day brings whatever is in the mind of the one reciting.
