(Sri Rama Sahasranamavali)
Also known as shri rama sahasranamavali · shree rama sahasranamavali · rama sahasranamavali
A thousand names of Rama in salutation form, and the viniyoga in front of them is unusual in what it chooses for the mantra's parts: where such texts normally give syllables, this one gives epithets — Janakivallabha for the seed, Saumitripriya for the power, Raghunandana for the pin, with Shiva named as the seer. The meditation verse that follows fixes the forest Rama rather than the crowned one: arms reaching to the knees, bow and arrow held, seated in the bound lotus posture, yellow cloth, eyes that rival fresh lotus petals, his gaze meeting the lotus face of Sita seated on his left thigh, cloud-dark, and wearing the great mass of matted hair. The names run through fifty-odd blocks to close on the lord of the world.
