Lord Shiva

श्री रुद्र स्तुतिः

(Sri Rudra Stutih)

Vyasa

Also known as sri rudra stuti · rudra stuti kurma purana · vyasa krita rudra stuti

Ten verses given to Vyasa in the Kurma Purana, and the plainest Rudra hymn in this collection — no compounds to untie, no acrostic, no seed syllables, only salutation after salutation in the simplest available Sanskrit. Salutation to the god, the great one, god of gods, holder of the trident; to the three-eyed, to the one with three eyes, to the lord of yogins, salutation. Salutation to the god of gods, to Mahadeva the creator, to Shambhu, to the pillar, always, to Shiva the supreme self. Its usefulness is exactly its plainness: it is the hymn a reciter with no Sanskrit can carry, and it says all the essential things about Rudra without asking anything of the reader.
