(Sri Shani Nama Stuti in Assamese)
Also known as shri shani nama stuti · shree shani nama stuti · shani nama stuti
A short praise from the Uttara Parva of the Bhaviṣya Purāṇa, and the striking thing about it is who is speaking: the banner reads śrī śanir uvāca, so the hymn to Śani is given by Śani. The verses themselves are conventional enough — dark as blue collyrium, wearing a garland of the same colour, born of Chāyā and Mārtaṇḍa, I bow to Śanaiścara; salutation to the son of the Sun, dark and shining like frost; salutation to the king of the departed, to the black-bodied, to Śanaiścara the harsh one, giver of clear understanding. It is the closing verse that the frame exists for, and it is in the first person: whoever praises me with these names, with him I am pleased, and fear of me will not come to him even in a dream. The remedy for the god is issued by the god.
