శ్రీ సూర్య నామవర్ణన స్తోత్రమ్

Brahmā's telling of the Sun's names, from the Brāhma Parva of the Bhaviṣya Mahāpurāṇa, set in the section on the rite of the seventh day. He opens by saying he will recite them in their proper order, as the names by which Arka is pleased, and the list is arranged by relation rather than by sound: the Sun as light and as fire, as Mitra the friend, as lord of cattle and lord of the directions, as Dhātṛ and Vidhātṛ, Aryaman, Varuṇa, Pūṣan, Bhaga and Parjanya. It then names him as Viṣṇu, Brahmā and the three-eyed one together, as lord of the seven worlds and the seven-horsed one, and finally as each of the planets under their patronymics — the son of Tārā, the son of Bhīmā, Kavi, Dhiṣaṇā. The fruit runs plainly through the same list: the sick are freed of sickness and the bound of their bonds.
