Goddess Saraswati

ଶ୍ରୀ ଵାଣୀ ଶରଣାଗତି ସ୍ତୋତ୍ରମ୍

(Sri Vani Sharanagati Stotram in Odia)

Sacchidananda Shivabhinava Nrisimha Bharati

Also known as shri vani sharanagati stotram · shree vani sharanagati stotram · vani sharanagati stotram

A hymn of surrender to Vāṇī by the Śṛṅgeri Jagadguru Sacchidānanda Śivābhinava Nṛsiṃha Bhāratī, and where his other pieces to her question and complain, this one simply gives up the argument — I who have no other refuge go for refuge to Vāṇī. The verse builds to that phrase through three descriptions arranged as a portrait from the hair downward: bearing a braid like the dark wind itself, a voice that takes away the pride of the flock of peacocks, and hips that are skilled at breaking the mountain's conceit. Setting the goddess of speech's voice against the peacock's cry is the conventional comparison and is placed here between two that are not conventional at all. It is the shortest of his four Sarasvatī pieces kept here and reads as the resolution of the other three.
