śrī veṅkaṭeśa divya varṇana stotram

(Sri Venkateshwara Divya Varnana Stotram in English (IAST))

Also known as shri venkateshwara divya varnana stotram · shree venkateshwara divya varnana stotram · venkateshwara divya varnana stotram

Four verses that do one thing and do it completely: describe the image from the crown downward, naming each place on the body and what is worn there. On the head the diamond crown; on the face the light of the moon's colour; on the brow the musk and sandal mark; in the ears diamond earrings; at the nose a fragrant flower petal; in the eyes the disc of the moon. Then the second verse continues down — in the hands an ocean of compassion and safety, on the arms conch and discus and mace, on the shoulder the golden sacred thread, over the whole body yellow silk shot with gold, and at the feet the form of highest bliss that takes away every wrong. The form is a varṇana, a description meant to be held steadily in the mind rather than argued with, and it closes by saying the whole is made of gold.
